How long do your drying towels last?

I use the same Meg's Waffle Weave towels.

6 years on daily driver.

Wash car at least 3 times per week with ONRW&S.

Wash in Dawn Dish Soap (let soak for 24 hrs) and then rinse 3 times.

Hang to dry.

Do it all in a bathroom sink.

Works for me.

Meh I use one of those Absorber synthetic chamois, never had an issue with it. I may try a waffle weave eventually.

Just wondering, are you using a Drying Aid product of some kind during the drying process?
Did you recently make a change in products?
A Drying Aid or Car Shampoo (that leaves a wax or protection of some kind behind?)

I do use a Drying Aid and for that reason I wash my MF after every use, even if the towel appears clean, to avoid build up of product.
Also keep your Drying Towels damp after use until you wash them, don't let them dry with product still in them.

I also don't use a Spray Wax during my drying process with my good drying towels. Use a dedicated towel for that.

It's interesting to read this thread.

I have a pocketed GG towel -- probably the same one as Klasse Act -- that is several years old, and it soaks up water almost as well as it did when it was brand new. I then bought some Guzzler towels a couple years ago, and they are DONE. My Dry Me a River towels are working well at this point too. I've always used a MF detergent (various, sold on AG) and I've always dried them on low heat. I've used all sorts of "drying aids" but I wonder if the Guzzler has embedded in it too much sealant/wax/etc. that is causing it to soak up poorly.

Does anyone ever soak their towels in strong APC for a while to break up wax/sealant deposits in towels? I recall a video also some time back where someone was using a pressure sprayer to rejuvenate his MF towels as well...

That's a good question, Kevin. I have thought about that too. I have some WWMF towels that are easily 8-10 years old and are still fine although i would like to try something to "deep clean" them periodically. I'm not sure i want to take my pressure washer to them but a good long soak in APC and then wash them as i normally do is worth a test.

Of those that are the oldest in my inventory, i've simply washed in Tide Free and air dry and they're still working great.
