How long does it take you on average to do a full exterior/interior detail on a car and also a full sized vehicle? Do you start with exterior first or interior? I take about 3 hours with cars and 4 hours with full sized. Its just me doing them. How can I become faster at detailing? Please share tips.

Whoa. That greatly depends on your definition of a full detail. I can do a full once over of a dealership car in about 5-6 hours but for full paying retail work details can run 8-12 hours easy.

Im sorry by full detail I mean cleaning everything inside and out maybe spot cleaning carpet but excluding paint correction.

That still doesn't define full detail.
To me:
Interior: carpets, mats, seats get vacuumed. Door panels door jambs, center console, dash, cup holders, steering wheel gets cleaned, windows cleaned inside and out, carpet, mats seats shampooed(If seats are leather, clean and condition).
Exterior:wash, wheels, wheel wells washed, paint clayed, wax.
Oh, all the interior and tires dressed. That's a "FULL" detail to me.
On a Honda accord, this might take 4-6 hrs depending on condition. 6-7 on a truck

Not all cars are created equal. Some will be dirtier some cleaner.

But for a vehicle that is in good condition. 1-2 hour interior. 2-3 hour exterior. Assuming no paint correction.

A full interior with scrubbing the carpets with APC and making sure there is no scum on the plastics. Blowing out all crevices, wiping everything down, UV A/B coating all plastics.

Then a foam bath, clay and 1 step exterior paint correction usually takes me from 9am-6/7pm.

2 step exterior with compound, then polish, then sealant and wax I ask for 2 days. Usually done by mid day on the 2nd day.

Man, me and my body would love to do a full detail in 3-4 hours! They only way to get quicker is have your stuff ready and have the proper tools to do the job. There was a topic around about how long it takes for a good wash, I think most were around the two hour mark, that leaves you 2 hours to work the paint and do an interior. It takes me about 2 hours for a complete interior. So in your time I have done zero paint work. A full interior for me is about 8-10 hours with my GF helping on the interior. Full for me is a wash, decon mild cut and polish. Interior vac, shampoo and wipe of all materials. Leather gets cleaned and conditioned.

only time it takes me 8-10 hours on interior is if its a trashed soccer mom van.. I just did a very dirty Versa (little Car) and interior took me 2 1/2 hours

At the moment everyone here just wants a interior/exterior detail with no paint correction. Im still trying to educate people on decontamination and all that since our community has never really had a detailer before. These people are used to paying 2.00 for a wash and wax.

5 hours + for full detail with no paint correction

2 dollars? !!!! Where are you at? I would even speak to a person who would expect that. I tell people all the time if you don't want to pay go away.

Are your services based on your per/hour, or per vehicle, rate?
What price range will your current market/area bear?

I've read in this thread things like:
6, 8, 12-24 hour details X (?)/hour =
(I'll guess-timate) ~$250-$1,000+...?!?!

In many markets:
This would go over like a: "Lead (Pb) balloon".

On average I take about 4 hours max for a full detail on a car without paint correction and bring in 60.00. Trucks and SUV I take about 5 hours and bring in 100.00.

For a car that is somewhat clean (but don't seem to get the clean one's) about 6-7 hours. If I have to remove the seats then 8 hours. For this I charge $190. If it's trashed the price goes up. This includes disinfecting/ steaming HVAC system and full steam and or extraction of the interior.

How do you disinfect? And I want to start charging more for trashed vehicles but I just dont know the wording to use.

My full detail is 5 to 6 hours for a car and 7 or so for an SUV. That level includes 10 steps for the interior and 10 for the exterior. I might throw in an engine detail with that if I have time and want to make the customer happy.

A deluxe detail (paint correction) is around 10 for a car and 12 for an SUV.
