Last November I clayed my `07 HHR and used the "Forum Favorite" kit (Klasse and Souvern) before parking it in the unheated garage for the winter. Now I'm thinking about taking it out for the summer and was just going to wash it and give it another coat of wax only. Or should I go through the whole detailing process again? Thanks for any input. slantram.

If it just sat there all winter then it shouldn't need much at all.

I agree. i would think that a good wash and wax should be fine. AS far as an exterior detail last it depends. I do my cars about 2 a year, clay ,polish, etc. but i wax about once a month depending what i have on there.

You could destroy a good detail job quickly running it through auto car washes or with bad washing techniques. A good durable wax or sealant will also help extend the life of your job. If proper care is taken with washing, you should expect it to last a year with the proper protection.

you can pull your freshly detailed car out of the garage and the painter next door could get severe paint overspray on it.

All it takes is one second.

Thanks for all the input.I only hand wash at home, so I think a wash and wax and I'll be ready to go. slantram.

Wash and wax, you'll be fine. No need to clay again if it's been sitting in the garage and covered the whole time.

edit: didn't see your reply, your good to go!

Oh, and :welcome: to the forum.

There are too many variables to really give a good answer. Can you post some pics. of the paint?

i havent polishe smy paint in 2 years.. i use 2 buckets allways. and sheepskin mit as well as foaming the entire truck everytime i wash . and wax every few weeks .. all though i might polish some panels soon . it has a few spots in need . but its a daily driver . so you cant help but get some minor marks ...
