how long will these supplies last (how many cars)?

i am thinking i will be doing 3-4 cars a week (1 or 2 SUVs, others sedans) and am wondering how long the supplies i have listed below will last (i need experienced people, i have no idea if the recommended quantities are adequate or if people use more/less.

also, i'm thinking most of the work will be wash/wax, so mabye 1-4 will be full details and 2-4 will use the interior cleaning products.

sorry if this doesn't quite make sense, i'm still trying to figure it out myself :o

thanks AG :righton:

hehe, well... if everything is brand new, from this point youre going to be set for at least 5 cars, at which point only a few products will need to be replenished. just keep in mind that for the majority of the products you have, a little goes a long way.

good luck!

also you will be able to figure out which products you use more of and than use your profits from your first couple cars to buy bulk sizes of those and save yourself some moolah.

so i'm only looking at about 5 cars?

is that for a full detail or just a wash/wax? (i thought it had enough wash to do like 128 cars (1oz per car?)? and enough wax for more than 5?

i thought i could do mabye 10 full details and 20 or so interior cleanings along with the wash/wax.

i need some rough estimates in order to get a loan and prove that i'm not going to end up in debt after the $500 is used up.

thanks for the help

well, your wax should last 20 cars, the interior products will also last a while. the polishes, on the other hand, will do 5 cars, tops. the soap will do a max of 64 cars (2 oz. each).

this is a general guideline. you will see after the first fews cars how much you have used and how much of what products you will have to replenish.

dont get discouraged. some will last a LONGGGGGG time, and other will go like a snap (primarily the xmt polishes).

EDIT: "The Basic" = cheap OTC stuff (for people that think a real wash/wax is too expensive, but still want minimal protection and their car to be shiny; only use cheap otc stuff with that one option, everything else is from AG :) )

:iagree: :iagree: Words of wisdom right there...

problem is i can't wait for that... i just need a rough estimate by any of you who have used the products before

I guess I'll post my response from your last thread again because I covered the questions that you are asking again. "
You are going to need a lot more clay, a lot more towels, a lot more pads, a lot more polishes, etc. From the list, you'll be able to do 5-10 cars... thats if you had more MFs and more pads... A 16 oz. bottle of polish can last 5-15 cars or so. A sealant longer but you'll need to buy more..."

I have a question... have you every done a full detail on a car before?

Not to be rude or anything but you kind of need some experience before diving head first into the business side of things. Once you get a few details under your belt you'll get the feeling for how much product you use. It is nearly impossible for me to say XMT4... you'll get 6 cars out of it, Pinnacle Fine Swirl remover ... 10 cars. Every person polishes cars differently. My suggestion for you is to buy a few products to practice with before you go out and do other people's cars. The one way that you can keep customers is producing great results ... and with no experience, you won't do that.

So if you haven't figured it out yet you are going to need more products, if you want to make a huge buy and then detail. So the bulk of your suplies (the ones for the full details), like the polishes and glazes will last you 3 weeks with 2-3 cars. The washes you'll be able to do quite a few and the Natty's wax will last probably 20-30 cars... But even then you are still going to want to buy more MF towels, clay, glass cleaner, wheel cleaner, etc etc etc. The list goes on...

I guess I've been trying to say this the whole time... just because a product is talked about online, doesn't mean that it is right for you... Everyone is different and like different products. You need to find out what works for you, what you like and make sure that it is in your price range.

Great Advice. :iagree:

JBs, why don't you post the pics of some of you work?? This way we could at least help you some.

I would maybe look at other products if you are wanting to do alot of cars and not spend much on products. Like optimum polish and compound would be a good example because you get 32oz's and it costs $16.99. That is over double what you get with XMT and for only $2 more. I like XMT and Optimum but, if I was doing it as a business optimum would be the product I would use. If you do this you will have more money to use to buy pads and towels which you will need. Mike...
