got married in 96 and then acquired a 1986 Honda Prelude

1996 ZX2 (wife's Prelude blew-up...needed a quick, cheap car and this was it)
1998 Ranger XLT 4-door (wanted a new 'toy' to tinker on)

1999 Ford Taurus (we considered having kids, needed an appropriate car)
2001 ZX3 (decided not to have kids...wanted a fun, cheap car to customize; this car got the works, suspension, custom paint, stereo, etc)

1972 Volkswagen Beetle (restored and sold)

1969 Olds Cutlass Supreme 442 (restored and sold)

1989 Chevrolet Cavalier Wagon (totaled)
2001 Suzuki GSX-750 (totaled)
1995 Ford Thunderbird (parted out)
1995 Nissan Maxima

I'm trying not to total anymore cars ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In chronological order:

1966 Ford Mustang (first car, bought used in 70, much bondo, bent frame)

1973 VW Beetle (bought new for $1999, drove 2 years, sold for $2000 made a buck!)

Then the Honda marathon:

1975 Civic (you could hear them rust)

1980 Civic (rust problem fixed)

1985 Civic

While I was at the honda dealer's to pick up the 85, they had just taken in on trade
a 1977 Eldorado and a 1976 MGB (british racing green), I told the salesman to give
me those two also. :-)

1976 MGB (great classis sportscar except it had been compromised by then to meet
US bumper and emissions standards)

1977 Cadillac Eldorado (great feeling sitting in almost 3 ton of metal. You didn't have to watch out much where you were going, people would move out of your way. Unfortunately it started to rust rather severely)

1988 Accord (my favorite car in a color called champagne)

1993 Accord wagon (kids)

1995 Civic (black, no frills, I hated that car for some reason, didn't have it long)

1998 Accord (happy car)

2000 Civic Si (for son number 1)

2002 Civic (for son number 2)

2003 CRV (hated that too, pissed cause I could no longer get an accord wagon)

2009 Accord (current car, its grown on me, thought it was too big at first, got the rather
rare diamond pearl white paint)

2012 Mercedes C300 (Thought I'd go up a class, love it, wife hates it, she's afraid she'll put the first scratch on it)

Let's see, looks like that makes 16 total.
