I applyed a liquid wax with my cyclo today, it seemed to come out alot better than by hand. I was applying by hand & it seemed like I was getting streaks in the finish that did not match up. What method do most of you perfer? Actually I was getting some uneven streaking useing WMF by hand, so I ditched that idea and waxed with the cyclo.

A machine helps you spread out a nice thin coat. I usually spread by hand though. I sometime use my PC to apply a sealant. Carnuba's are definitely applied by hand.

I did use a carnuba, never had a problem with streaks with the nuba, but the WMF by hand I wont try it again.

I have always applies wax & sealants with my PC. I find that it makes a really tiny amount go a really long way.

The only time I apply by hand is on the inside of doors and similar, small, hard to reach places.

I tried doing a paste wax by machine once and I used way to much product. Since your correction is all done at this point, there is no need for high speed or extra heat, so doing it by hand is just as simple and quick, you can also easily get into the smaller areas by hand.

Depends if I'm pressed for time. If in a hurry I apply by pc, if not, by hand.

i use my pc 100% of the time to lay down a sealant....i use a slow speed, 2-3, and i can knock out the car in 20 minutes or less....plus i get really good coverage with the pc....

I feel I waste way too much product by using the pc for lsps. It actually took me longer to use the pc than by hand.

And since the pc doesnt generate much heat that could possibly "burnish" the surface while applying an lsp, I see no benefit. Its really not that hgard to get a thin even layer down.

I use a PC for liquids (glazes, sealants, waxes). I start at a 3 speed, spread/work in some, run the PC up to a 5 and then back to a 2-3. IMO, I get a more uniform, thin coat this way than by hand. At the end, I'll take the pad off the PC and hit spots I could not get to very well with the PC.

By hand, I tend to vary more (thick to thin) and I am not as consistent/uniform.

I like doing it by hand, after a detail with a rotary, its nice to wax in peace and admire the work.

Does anyone burnish/jewel with an LSP? Don't know about you, but I do burnish/jewel with a finishing polish, but never with a sealant/wax.

I tried applying P21S with a black LC pad on my Flex. It just made an easy job and my favorite step difficult and irritating. Removal was much harder, if applying P21S was always like I experienced on a machine, I would have changed Lsp's a long time ago. I am going to give Pinnacle’s Souveran wax a try soon though.

Unless someone gives me some mind altering advice, I will wax by hand.

Try spritzing your pad with some QD. Sounds like you were applying P21s too thick. If it was applied thinly, you wouldn't have trouble removing it.

I think I exaggerated a bit. I applied very thin. In comparison to the incredible ease of removing P21S that was applied by hand, a very enjoyable process. Removing P21S that was applied by machine seemed a little harder than it's worth. It didn't come off as clean, needing an extra wipe. I'm willing to give it another try though.
