how many of you are no longer using clay?

I've noticed that a lot of people saying they won't change from clay have never tried the speedy prep towel. If you use the FINE version, I have noticed no marring whatsoever.

Try it and then see what you decide. I for one, am never going to use clay again :)
-Since it's become your personal preference...Go for it!!

I'm very curious, though, if...

-By your use of a claying-product (clay-towel in this instance), that is:
a FINE version, (and is riding/hydroplaning on a film of a clay-lubricant, I'll add),
to where you have not noticed any marring whatsoever...

...that the vehicles' surfaces' contaminates have been removed, or not.

Did you:
-Remove any and all residues/remnants of your claying-session?

Did you then:
-Perform another Inspection-Light-test for surface defects (including marring); and,
-Perform a subsequent "baggie-type-test" for surface-smoothness (with a new baggie, of course)?

Like I said earlier...Just curious.

I actually used the Speedy Prep towel yesterday for the first time. There is no way in hell I'm going back to using clay! So much easier, quicker and less tiring on the hands.

I haven't touched my clay since I got the pad and towels! Big time saver and no more cramped fingers!!! I also haven't had any real noticeable marring so far from the pad or towel. I did see a little bit on a black bumper cover that was resprayed, but no more than I'd get from claying.

I will still keep clay on hand for tight areas or just in case I do run across a paint that marrs from the pad pt towel.

How many uses can one get out of these towels? Is it true you can easily clean them and get infinite uses out of them? I know clay only last me so long after steady use....

I enjoy claying certain vehicles...I am anticipating OPTIMUM's release of Dr.G.'s decontamination towel, and reviews thereof before deciding purchase.

But I do have one question...

With claying, there is sensory perception throughout the process as to when the process is adequate...is it the same with such an aggressive product?

Good question (and analysis)...VT!!:props:
(Good to see you AGO-Posting again, as well.)

Not back yet...had a Copper thief do a number on one of my rental properties...have to be back 8 am Wed...estimating 30K in damages.

Back on topic:

Mis-spoke on the Optimum product. Saw your post on another thread...immediately called Ron @ OPT. Product cannot be ordered before release

Just wanted to get a jump since OCC has never let me down.

Either way, my old school mentality, along with my penchant for treating customer vehicles as my own will probably lead me away from these aggressive methods...for now.
I do, however, see a place where the autoscrub can be used...in Joe's video, the waterspot removal for heavily concentrated build-up may prove worthwhile to investigate.

Thanks for the video Chris!!

Looking forward to the rest of the series.

NOTE:
I might have missed its introduction,
but glad to see that Optimum has: Opti-Erasure...:props:

Not infinite. The manufacturer says about 100 cars. Well worth it imo.

I didn't do all that. I did look for marring however closely with a light before and after and did not find any...

And I will refer you to a review done by Todd @autopia.com (gasp!!). He shows pictures of the test he did for marring issues, and found the same results I did :)

While it may have the ability to perform 100 decons...my question is will the rubber(?) last the time frame that many of us part timers would need to be able to actually do 100 decons?

My base is maintenance. It would take probably up to a year or more for me to see 100 decons.

But my point was...(and since you brought up this to the forefront):
the FINE version, I have noticed no marring whatsoever.

The following...

-I kinda wonder what the marring-issue would be from using a more aggressive-abrasives-inundated clay-towel...
...(to actually ensure the riddance of above surface contaminates<<<IMO)...
...instead of a FINE-one, after all is said-and-done.
