Depends. A machine can do what the human hand cannot. However the clumsiness of the machine and the fact that once you spend hours polishing , sometimes you just want to put the machine down and relax applying wax by hand.

Always. Unless I am doing a quick bumper and mirror wax after maintenance wash.

I applied wax by hand the past 3 applications, i hated every aspect of it.

It was harder to apply, took longer, didnt apply as thin/even of a coat, use more product, and it was harder to buff off.

Applying by machine is the exact opposite as above.

It is not just about a faster aspect, it is also about better results, and applying via machine gives you a beautiful even thin coat, and a dream to buff off most importantly. You do not want to apply hard pressure to take off thick wax with chances to scratch/marr the paint.

Machine all the way!

I can't imagine polishing by hand...especially a big truck like mine...that would be insane

I couldn't imagine waxing anything by hand. Seems overwhelming. Plus, with this mini arsenal, why bother?

Just did it for the first time with my Porter Cable on Thursday. I'm hooked! I even bought 4 inch pads to do the motorcycle. Love how it lays down an even, thin layer of wax.

I'm even wearing my Detailers Helper Belt for the 2nd time, w/1 pocket ahh yea.😉

Yup, just finished a coat of liquid souveran, DA and scholl waffle black abrafil pad.... Slurp....

Sometimes I don't like lugging out the extension cord, polisher, pads, prime the pad, and then apply the wax while being careful not to bump the car with the cord. I would probably use a machine more if I had a battery-powered polisher. When I get some extra cash.......or maybe Christmas!

What kind of machine do you use. Don't own one but am interested. Thanks
