How many of your neighbors are into car detailing

Only a couple of neighbors have seen my "inventory" and tools. I'm ok with that.

Same here :). One neighbor who I talk to once in a while, (usually in his driveway) stopped over when I was washing the car and couldn't believe all the chemicals and towel I had just for cleaning my car :D. He has an odd collection of vehicles, a Jeep, Gold Wing trike, Yamaha V Max, HD touring bike, and a HD Special Edition Fat Boy. Keep in mind the bike season is about over and won't start until April or May. He does use car soap but with a bath towel  .

Both my neighbors left and right, and 3 guys across the street wash their cars at home. It never fails, any time I'm washing one of my cars, someone else comes out with some buckets and brushes on poles and goes to town scrubbing every inch of their cars! I've also noticed that anytime I'm doing work under the hood, or an oil change, it won't be long until one of those guys is doing the same thing later that day! Lol, no joke. Further, when I choose to mow and edge my yard, guess what?? One or more of those guys will follow suit! Crazy

Maybe it's just because anything I do I like to start doing as early in the day as possible, and they already had plans to do their outdoor chores, they just start later. But I get the feeling of being followed almost every weekend! Lols, good thread :xyxthumbs:

ZERO.....lady at the top of my street has a 5th gen Camaro and I think she washes it once a year, she asked me how I keep mine (I have a 2011 2SS) looking so good, I told her lots of planning, meticulous technique and a ton of reading from sites like autogeek. pretty sure she hasn't taken my advice. the property next to us at the dead end of the street is a rental and we get some pretty shady folks every year or two. one guy washed his car using an old sweat shirt and dried it with an old beach towel. saw the dude drop the sweat shirt on the ground at least twice then dump it in the wash bucket and proceeding to induce swirls. clueless. Before the rental property was a rental there was a great guy that used to live there that had a classic 40's sedan, guy took meticulous care of that car and everything he owned. miss having neighbors like that. most people don't give a sh*t anymore!

WOW! The number just went from 0 to 1. I saw my neighbor do a 2nd wash this year. Un-believable. Weather was perfect. 65 degrees and sunny, a little wind, not hot, not cool in southern NE.

Hahaha

My neighbors always look at me funny whenever I am working on the car, I imagine they are saying to each other..'now what's that guy doing to his car?' I always get lots of compliments from people driving or walking on my street because they know I always keep the car clean, and it's the cleanest on the street. Whenever i have the Porter Cable up and firing away I always see people stop what there doing and look at me, ive had many ppl come up to me as im polishing and ask what I'm doing and how to do it etc. They must think I'm crazy when I break out the leaf blower to dry the car, I feel kinda self conscious when I do it lol
As far as neighbors go the guy across the street uses a foam gun on his SUV and lets the sun 'dry' it...smh. My one next door neighbor was washing his car one day and i was doing the same and he was using only one bucket while I was using two with the grit gaurds; I went over and gave him s''' for using only one bucket lol, and I explained to him why we use two buckets. Needless to say he washes with two bucks now :p
My other next door neighbor came over one day as I was doing a maintence wash and asked how I always get the wheels so clean on the insides (they have a Benz with BRUTAL brake dust). I pulled out my IronX and went and cleaned all four wheels of the Benz, after that my neighbor always has IronX on hand lol :)

Cheers

And just to prove how OCD I am, I even keep the car clean during the winter as best as I can; in the winter I run the black cop wheels as you can see. When the neighbors see that I keep it clean even in winter, THEN they start to question my sanity, but to each his own. If you look closely you can see little icicles at the bottom of the rocker panels lol
