Sorry for the completely newb title, but I have just received my supplies from AG and am preparing to do my first detail with my PC XP this weekend on my black 2010 Honda Accord. I have been wondering since I don't have a PTG currently how many times could I polish with Meg's 205 using a white pad, no more than a orange pad to remove light swirls before I need to worry about clear coat failure?

I plan on polishing my car once a year possibly twice a year at most given I should be washing and drying my car properly now I have read up how to do so and have the proper supplies. I plan on keeping this car forever as a daily driver and purchasing a second car that will be dedicated for the track when it's paid of as a weekend warrior. If you were planning on daily driving a vehicle for 10-15 years and putting on 300k on it, how many times would you feel comfortable using a light polish before worrying about clear coat failure? Ideally within the next couple years I will purchase a good PTG but till then I will be relying on what I hear from member's trials and tribulations. Thanks for the help, it is appreciated.

Twice a year for the life of the vehicle should be fine, let me know how she's looking in a couple hundred thousand miles... :D

PTG is the only way to know though.

Has it ever been buffed out by a dealership or any other detailer and if so how aggressive did they get with it? These are questions that a PTG can't answer and which would be relevant to answering your original question. If it's never been cut on with a compound and a wool pad you should be fine with such a mild polish and a PC.
