and to think, they need to drill it, ship, refine and then ship it again... all the while your gov't sits on its fat ass and makes more than the oil companies..

I have read exon makes 2 cents a gallon on gas while state and fed taxes equate to, on average, ~50 cents a gallon.

You tell me who the bad guys are?

oh and for the record, my mower costs about 28 bucks to fill up... that was my last fill up

Buy a prius...use the gasoline $ for its lease payment....
might not be a good idea..

They are as you well imagine, very different cars. The most frequent issue I have with the Prius is cornering, the switch from performance summer tires on the GT to high efficiency tires on the Prius results in my squealing around the on-ramp curves. Sometimes I get a glare from the wife, but I can't help it, I am already doing 35 where I normally do about 60.

Performance wise the Prius can merge comfortably onto the interstate, and will cruise well at speeds from 77-85. I wont drive it much faster than 85 (except passing) as I would not trust it to pull off a high speed accident avoidance maneuver. The one place it is sorely lacking is passing on two lane highway. In the GT all you need is the smallest of gaps to make a pass. In the Prius, unless I have a clear view of at least 1 mile up the road I won't pull out to pass because it does not have much highway speed passing power.

In the mountains the Prius leaves a lot to be desired. Going over Eisenhower pass I have the accelerator buried in the carpet and it will do alright until the battery is tapped out. When the battery is discharged 45-50 is the top speed going up the steepest parts of the mountain. The Prius does a lot better starting off at high altitudes - in the GT at 9,000+ ft I have about 4 seconds of turbo lag off the line.

All in all the Prius is a fantastic car, and we take it on all of our road trips. When you get in it is a different type of driving, much more laid back and relaxing. I don't constantly have the urge to beat my best time to a destination like I do in the GT.

One final gripe on the Prius is the ABS system is way too sensitive. Going over a small bump or pothole while braking and the car immediately cuts all of the braking power for about a quarter of a second which is very unnerving to have the sudden sensation that the brakes have failed.

I do like the electronic woosh the Prius makes when coming to a stop with the regenerative braking, kind of an inverse to the BOV of the turbo, but it just sounds so high tech it puts a smile on my face.

i filled up on my way to vegas from LA.... $5.00 per gallon

Fuel prices increased by 20 cents OVERNIGHT! (no bull) The fuel distributor for the Metro Washington D.C. area claims that the reason for the increase is the recent flooding in parts of the U.S. Seems like they grab onto ANY recent event to justify a price increase. Something has to be done about this outright thievery.

Halle-frickin-lujah! I have a much bigger problem with government than I do with oil companies when it comes to gas prices.

$33.01. Filled to the top from 1/4 tank. $1.31 per litre.

1L = 3.785 gallons, so $1.31 x 3.785 = $4.95 / gallon.

Oklahoma City & metro is around $3.75 per/gallon

passed one on the way to work at $3.68

been watching oil prices drop over the last week. looks like it's down over 10% from last week.

Recently paid $76.50 to fill a Lexus RX350, with the Sam's .05 discount...

I bought my 2007 G6 less than 2 months ago. The first time I filled it from 1/4 tank (on the fuel gauge) I found that I had a 15 gal tank.It took 13 gal to fill it (which proves that the gauges are never accurate). At that time I filled it for about $32.00. Last night I filled it when I hit 1/4 tank again (no, this is not the first time filling it since then [I wish])
Last night it was $54.00 to fill it. $3.93 - regular. :(

$75 and some change on my Hemi. Still had 6 gal left :(. I thought gas was supposed to go down? We have not seen a decrease around here.

$72.44 to fill up a '99 Toyota Avalon. I went to a station that sells non-ethanol gas, so I'm hoping to get better MPGs this tank :D

$62ish dollars in the Kia with 87 mutt gas and around 73 dollars in the Toyota Supra TT for 93 BP.

72.?? with my .10 cents off at Kroger in a '01 Dodge Ram...... granted I will be filling up very soon again unfortunately.
