How much Meguiars APC is safe for leather?

For 21.00 I'm gonna try D181.Im paying way more than that thanks guys.

Would most members use D180 alone vs. using a dedicated leather cleaner followed by a protectant such as Ultima Interior Guard?

I'm just trying to decide whether I can use D180 alone vs D180 or CG Leather cleaner then UIGP.

I already use VRP 1:1 with DH20 for a dressing on the dash and doors

D180 is an all in one. It has a light cleaner and can be used alone. I have used it after cleaning the leather with D181. Works fine both ways.

I have used Chemical Guys Nonsense at 10:1 with great results but my favorite is meguiars leather cleaner/conditioner. I haven't run into anything that those two were not able to handle. On a youtube channel I watch the detailer uses super degreaser on leather and says he hasn't had any problems so I feel safe with my approach.

I also have the new Mother's 3-in-1 leather care to try out sometime this week. I should have a review up before the end of the week ideally if you want to wait to see how that goes...

Why is there a few bad comments about Lexol? Has anyone done a side by side comparison? I have no loyalty to the product other than my $8 or so cost in it. Would like to use it up vs through it away. I like to know what you recommend for good/reasonably priced leather cleaner. I do LOVE the Meguiar's products I have, and will likely buy their leather cleaner once the Lexol is empty.

I have noticed though you can chase your tail on here trying to buy what everyone says it great (and go broke in the process). I think that is because there are so many new products out and quite a few of them work great compared to what was available ten years ago.

I noticed o my last leather cleaning, the APC worked wonders on some spots that the Lexol was too mild to hit.

You've already done a side by side comparison... You already know the answer to your question. The Lexol is too mild to clean soiled in dirt off leather. It may work for someone to maintain their brand new vehicle, but for a car which hasn't been maintained or cleaned regularly or in a long time it's useless to expect it to actually deep clean.

Meguiars D181 Leather Cleaner has been mentioned a few times, it's only like $21.99 per gallon RTU. The Megs D101 APC @10:1 works and feels very similar to D181 but the D181 is slightly tweaked and delivers slightly better results in way of cleaning power. It also leaves the leather with a clean residue free feel afterwards. The APC can sometimes feel a bit tacky/sticky [but not alot] afterwards. But it's not a total dealbreaker for most people.. Other than that there's really no Major differences between the 2.
That being said, I now prefer using D181 over D101 and will continue to do so now that I've tried it.

"You've already done a side by side comparison... You already know the answer to your question."-you are correct.

What I should have said was, "What is the strongest leather ratio of Meguiar's APC, or any other leather cleaners that is SAFE for MOST the nasty leather interiors. I sure don't want to pay for a dye job on a car. Thank you!

I've tested Meguiars D108 Super Degreaser @4:1 sprayed directly on the leather and agitated with a soft nylon brush on My Own leather seats just to see what would happen. I saw no adverse affects, other than a more than usual tacky feeling afterwards, that was quikly solved by following it up with leather conditioner.
That being said, I can't personally recommend going anything over 10:1 with it, because I don't want to be responsible for giving anyone advice that leads a worst case scenario.
I've also never run into leather seats that were so dirty that Megs APC @10:1 + my steamer wasn't able to handle. In a real life situation, I can't see needing APC @4:1 at the most. But I'd want to stick w/10:1.

These seats cleaned up like night & day using APC. Unfortunately I was too busy photographing the carpet [the carpet was a total mess] and I didn't think to take any after photos of the leather seats.

Wow Eldorado2k! Those seats are nasty. I'll stick with APC 10:1 since that seems to be the consensus here. I just found another use for Meguiars APC (Cleaning pads!). I was using Wolfgang's pad cleaner, but it is SO EXPENSIVE for how much you get. Full strength Meg's APC did amazing. I totally get why people rave about it! It is so versatile!

Your carpet looks really, really good!

You think the seats were nasty... Have a look at this 50/50 of the matts. Lol. This is pretty much how the entire carpet looked before.😳

Proof that even the biggest car enthusiasts, Need the help of us detailers.😉

BTW, Megs APC @10:1 cleaned that carpet.

Wait, what? That carpet looks like another color! You are the carpet MASTER! How exactly did you do that? Impressive!!! I can't believe 10:1 did that! I swear they use gypsy tears as an active ingredient...

That's a show car? Yikes.... Try not to eat a seven course meal i there while coming back from a mud truck rally! My 2004 Jetta TDI Wagon looks like a 2016 inside. Aside front the carpet trim, and a few tiny nick backs. It was a NE car with salt backed into the floor mats and carpet. About $150 in change (Joke) and and 1.5 hours at the car wash pressure washer (not joking) at point blank range fixed that. Then followed up with my PC and white brush.

This is the best comparisson video I have seen yet. It clearly shows the difference in cleaning power from a few popular products including Lexol.

Enjoy!
