How much to a dealer

You are mentioning here it takes you 4 hours to perform this service. Is the polish a machine polish or a hand polish? Is the 4 hours mostly consist of applying the polish, then going back over the car with paint sealant?

Polish and sealant are both machine applied with a long throw DA. Rupes 3 inch for smaller areas and a Dynabrade head on a Makita rotary for large areas.

Not sure if there's a going market rate in the area but, if so, you'd have to be line with it. Otherwise, I'd charge at least $125 but ask for $150 for 4 hours of pretty hard work. I'm not in the business but it seems to be that it would be better to have a standard rate but higher than standard for vehicles in bad shape and a little less for those in well above average shape.

Also, I'd have a different rate large trucks and SUVs. It's going to take a while longer and more materials for these.

150 for cars and 200 for trucks is the lowest you should go for full detail. Above 20 vehicles thencyou lower price when they give you more cars to do

If the vehicle is a trade in and has never been cleaned, the dealer will want a full detail on the exterior, interior and engine compartment. The car has to be ready for sale which means full detail, buff, and wax. I would spend 6 to 8 hours on every used car. I would charge a minimum of $150 for small cars and maybe $200 or more for full size trucks and SUVs. The problem is getting a dealer to pay you $150 to $200 per vehicle.

for wash , clay , 1 step polish , 1x coat of seal - Exterior only
regular price $300 , $350 if black car
if dealer and they give you steady jobs , 5-10+ cars a month than 250/300?

if you do quality , than that should be payed!
if you just put some gloss on the paint , and no defect removal than what ever makes you happy.

If you want to do quality work and make money at it, dealerships are not the place for you. Going rate for interior cleaning, exterior washing and buffing, and engine bay cleaning/dressing is $100 in the dealership world. I don't detail cars, but I work with enough dealerships to know what the "detail" sub-contractors they use charge them. Btw, they are all untrained hacks for the most part.
