$ How much to remove clear bra $

This is a LITTLE off subject but, I was wondering especially from Chatelaine if there is a way to help maintain the clear bra...like how we polish and wax paint to keep it in good shape...is there a way to keep the clear bra in good condition?

I dont personally have one but I run into customers with them. The other thing ive noticed, especially on darker colored cars, is a color difference between what part the clear bra coveres and the paint right next to it. Can anything be done about that or is that one of those 'it is what it is' deals?

I'll usually tape the cut edge with 1/8" 3M fine line tape to avoid getting polish in the edge, especially if it's pretty marred up. I'll then seal it using Opti-Seal so that you also don't have to worry about any wax on the edge.

^^ How do you find that holds up to the polisher running over it? My 3M masking tape tends to fold over and then adhesive goes everywhere. What's your technique there for not getting a small line of unpolished paint if the hood is really scratched up?

The 3M Fine Line tape is different than normal masking tape and tends to hold up better to buffing and rarely will the adhesive pull out like normal masking tape. It's also very easy to work with especially when you have to bend it on a curve.

This is actually the 1/4 stuff but I use both 1/4" and 1/8" depending on what I'm doing.

It's pretty hard to totally eliminate a hard line but if you take the tape after before the polish dries it should wipe right off. Another thing I'll do is work the polish in a little before I run the pad over the tape. However, if I am left with a dried on line of polish I will apply a small amount of KAIO or similar polish on an applicator (rub it into the applicator with your fingers first) and carefully go over the line in a parallel motion (like removes like).

I also like to use M205 when ever possible as I feel is easier to wipe out of the cut edge, especially if I choose not to tape. On the CTS-V above I did end up using Menzeran as M205 wasn't playing nice on it. ;)

Rasky

A family member asked if I could remove hers. It is OEM around 2001 I think. You can see in this pic that the bra is brittle and cracking, it appears to me. Is this still just a peel off without heat type of thing?

BTW I redid my tape after my test spot... but I need a lot of practice taping before it looks like Rasky.
