Just curious how often to clay a car and the difference between the grades. Also what to do after you clay the car do you just wash it again or do you have to seal it? Best clay products? Also spray wax is it good for the car?

I clay mine whenever I polish it. So right now using cquartz I do it once every couple of years.

The grades are just how aggressive they are. Medium will grab more off the surface and do it faster than fine but more aggressive clay has a better chance to mar or haze up the finish which is ok if you plan to polish after anyway.

I think a lot of people will agree the nano skin sponges are amazing and I feel quite a bit safer than traditional clay.

It probably wouldn't hurt to wash it after but I feel like you should be ok wiping away your clay lube that is left on the surface with a good microfiber towel and then you would want to either polish the paint or use your favorite sealant or wax.

Spray wax is good but I wouldn't use it as a stand alone product. You would want to use some type of sealant or paste/liquid wax.

You can use spray wax as a drying aid for your washes. While the car is still wet mist on a spray wax and then proceed to dry it. This can help add a little protection and also create a streak free shine after washing.

:iagree: I think David has said it all.

I wrote an article that REALLY answers this question in detail back in 2005. That's 11 years now.

Not only is it a common question but I had the chance to take some PICTURES that really explain the story. This is from when I ran the MOL forum.

How often do I need to clay my car's finish?

Hey Mike I am curious, your links are not able to be clicked on when using the iOS autogeek app. Any fix for that? I can click just fine in a browser or on my computer but in the mobile app I see it as a blue link but it's not clickable.
