You will get a wet look more so with a wax. But if you have good paint and a good sealant like klasse you can get that also with 2 layers.
Son1c probably had a wax on his mustang that made it look like that
The wax helped with 'that wet look' without a doubt, but doesn't Mike Phillips have a saying that goes "The prep makes the pop"?
Waxes are typically organic, that is, natural, composed of carnauba wax, sometimes beeswax, candelilla wax, so on and so forth. Waxes are known for producing a deep, wet, warm look to the paint.
Sealants are typically inorganic, that is, composed of synthetic polymers that offer a more candied look, but greater durability than most waxes (Collinite 845 being a stand out exception).
Many people like to put down a coat or two of sealant first, let that coat cure for the required time by the manufacturer, and then top it with a layer of wax.
As for recommendations, I'd suggest Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection over Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, just my preference. I've found BFWD to be easier to apply and offer greater slickness, I do think that WGDGPS offers a bit more warmth, however that could be because I applied it to a black car, while I have BFWD applied to gold and silver vehicles.
Regardless, whenever I put a layer of wax atop the black vehicle, it gives it noticeably more depth and warmth.
