Hi, I am putting a hitch on my 04 Buick. There is a small amount of corrosion started on the "frame" surface of the car where the hitch bolts up. Not a lot but a little. Before putting the hitch up, I would like to strip and repaint, just to slow corrosion a bit. Also these hitches tend to rust.
Heres a pic of the hitch:
I'm not sure the ideal way to repaint, though. Primer, rust reformer, etc?
I was also thinking of using an automotive sealnt like this Loctite 5200 marine sealant between the hitch and car, but on another forum someone suggested that even with a sealant you could end up with a hole somewhere and harbor stuff crap, and they might be right especially with the bolt holes. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000AY6AC/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A297FB27E4KSS3
Thanks
