How long should I let it cure for*

This has always been an unanswered question on of mine.
I would like to know how long I should let produces cure for after buffing it off?

-Cleaner
-Polish
-Glaze
-Sealant
-Wax

Generally speaking, only waxes and paint sealants need to dry.

There are some waxes that are WOWO that is Wipe on, then Wipe Off, no drying needed. Read the label and follow the manufactures directions.

so glaze wouldnt need anytime to cure? after i take off the glaze i can just put on the sealant?

Yes.

Here's the deal...

When it comes to any of the products used before sealing the paint with a wax or paint sealant, now follow me on this... the benefit from the product is obtained when the product is worked against the finish.

After you are done working the product against the finish, there's no longer any use for the product to remain on the finish so wipe it off.

There is no benefit to letting a compound for example dry. It will always be easier and more gentle to the finish to wipe these types of product off while they are still liquid or in a semi-liquid state.


There are exceptions to this rule because there are a few paint cleaners that don't offer true mechanical abrading ability and part of how they work is they fill in hairline scratches and to do this they need to dry so as to leave the most amount of fillers behind.

But generally speaking, anything you apply before your LSP you apply, work in and over the paint and the remove.

I have an article about this on MOL, it's been re-written by Mike Stoops, but I think I have a copy of the original on SCG

I'll see if I can find it, updated it and then re-write it under my name, I came up with the idea for the article after years of teaching classes and seeing how much confusion there was over "Which products need to dry" , which is the name I gave the article.

Another question.
If Im using a Glaze on my car.. is there a need using a pre-wax cleaner or anything like that after?
 
how long does a glaze last? hides the swirls... if its top off with a carnauba wax....does it last as long as the wax? or until i wash the car again?

Had to really work at re-writing my original article because here on Autogeek we carry such a diverse line of products that which products need to dry and which product don't need to dry are all over the board... but... I did re-write it and it has some common sense recommendations included which should remove most of the confusion like,

that would depend if you wax your car often or not. if you glaze your car and put a sealant and wax over it, it should last as long as you keep the sealant and wax applied of it.

Meaning, if you keep waxing your car regularly, it should last very long.
