Recently got a Griot's 6" polisher (birthday present!) and as a token of appreciation for polishing their Corolla's paint, my son and his wife gave me a $50 certificate from Zaino. A polisher...the gift that keeps on giving...

I'd used Zaino to keep the paint perfect on my '95 Nissan Hard Body (many moons ago) but since it ran out (and the truck was stolen) I haven't bought more, and have been searching for other products, (PBW Polish w/Sealant, Collinite, Mother's Power Polish) and Zaino seemed a little pricey.

But in light of this gift, I'm willing to give Zaino another try.

I have 3 daily drivers: a 2002 Mustang (red), a 2000 Frontier (charcoal metallic) and a white '06 Highlander.

What I loved about Zaino was how dirt & crud just didn't stick to it---I rarely even used detergent to clean my truck. Pressure rinse/spot free and an occasional Z6. I'm hoping the newer zaino works as well.

I'm thinking of trying ZAIO + Z2/ZFX. I'll recoat w/ Z2 every 3-4 months and then do an annual (or so) machine polish w/ ZAIO to clean the paint, then do z2 again. I could save some $$$ using AquaWax instead of Z8 or Z6 for an occasional shine-up.

Or...would I get more use out of just getting Z2/ZFX, skip the ZAIO and try Z6 +Z8 between recoats with Z2?

I'm realizing that either way, I'm going to be chipping in to buy this stuff!

Or should I just save the $$$ and get Z2/ZFX and use AquaWax between recoats?

Any comments appreciated...maybe even other combinations of products.

Skip all that and buy towels, clay, and stuff like that. I never used Zaino, but Z this and that ( along with the process) makes my head spin. Sounds really complicated and a lot of work. I can't imagine its better (or close to as easy) as the BF or Wolfgang WOWA products. I here their "Borderless Blonde" towels are excellent

Thanks. Excellent idea. You helped me change my thinking.

You know...for the extra $$$ it would cost me to get set up with Zaino products, I can get the same "set" of Duragloss products (sealant, bonding agent, a gallon of QD, and Aquawax) AND either two sets of "Borderless Blonde" towels or one set and a couple of Zaino clay bars. And buy from my local Carquest store.

Thanks, sir. You've been a big help.

I first first thought was exactly what swan said, towels and supplies, etc. I used to use Zaino as well. I liked it because it lasted long, but it just didn't have the shine I wanted.

My first application of swirl remover, polishing compound, WGDPGS 3.0, and Souveran was no faster than the Zaino process, but it looked WAY better. But, like Zaino, I'll just freshen it up with a quick coat of liquid Souveran every couple of months.

I hear some of the zaino towels are amazing. Stock up on those.

I was a Zaino user.... the Z-6 is good stuff. Found a new bottle in a box recently and used it for kicks. While getting the towels is a great idea, I would get at least one or two bottles of Z-6.

I'm torn between towels/clay bar and taking an opportunity to try and test z2 vs some other stuff (like Duragloss 105).

But even if I found Zaino to have a slight edge over DG, I think pricing would prevent me from going Zaino again. I can buy the full line of DG locally for just under half of what Z costs.

Just thinking out loud...but I think I'll be just as happy using Duragloss on my daily drivers...removing the haze w some nice Zaino towels...

What is so complicated about it? It's a process like any other system except you mix a bonding agent where BF/WG have a built in bonding agent.

Shh...don't tell anybody I told you this, but Z-6 IS DG Fast Clean & Shine...I can't tell them apart. AW may be watered down Z-8, but Z-6 IS FC&S. And it comes in gallons.

I use only one Zaino product, the leather conditioner. It smells amazing.........

On the other hand, I can't get any of the DG sealants to bead like Z-2 or Z-5.

Do either DG or Z2 Pro repel dirt and crud as well as the original Z2 formula? That's what I loved about Zaino...nothing stuck to it.

I dunno, I never used the original Z-2, only Pro, and only the original Z-5, not the Pro.

Does it? WG Deep Gloss Paint Sealant says to allow 12 hours curing time. The zaino agent (zfx) is not required unless you want to top immediately.

I am a happy zaino user for several years. The "system" is no different and just as easy as any other. I am switching to Wolfgang just to try someting different. After a couple of years with WF, I will likely try something different agian.
