Hi all, im curious on what different precautions need to be taken when buffing single stage paint. im sure its much more workable, but have never actually tried working with it.

advice?

Same except the pads get dirtier from oxidation and abraided paint. So just keep the pads clean. Some SS can be pretty soft in comparison to modern clears.

hmm ok. these cars i have to do are show cars and arnt in any form of bad shape. they just need to be polished. all i have is rotary. soo like 1000rpm or so?

Speed depends on polish too. So to just say xxxxx RPM's is not giving good advise. Check what your polish requires and try a test spot from there. Different polishes break down differently with different RPM's.

Without a tough clearcoat, you may be working with more delicate edges and ridges. Definitely be generous with the masking tape.

Good advice...

I have some information about the paint hardness of single stage paints in this thread.
