how to clean pads?

I recently bought a porter cable 7424xp. used it the first time the other day and loved it! now my question is what is the best way clean the pads when I do not have any pad cleaner? also if I clean them am I able to use the pad with a different product? or would that pad still have small amounts of whatever I used before? thank you for helping the noob out!!! and and any other tips are appreciated.
 
If you ever want to detail for money, get the pad washer. It saves you a TON of time.

Yes, after you wash them thoroughly, you can use them with other products.

great video! I will definitely have to think about getting one of these. but like you said if your only doing a couple cars you can spend that money on other things. we will have to see if detailing becomes a full time thing. I hope it does!

If you don't want to buy the pad cleaner, then the option is to spray APC as I did in the video scrub with a brush, clean in a sink and let dry overnight.

Not terribly efficient but certainly cheaper!
 
What I do is just let it soak in an APC solution, stronger solution for sealants. After about an hour just start squeezing the heck out of them. Then rinse to get the suds out, may take some patience.. If APC isn't within reach dishwater liquid works well too, same process. I have been very successful doing that. Like roshan said, if you are doing it as a business, get the pad washer, but I am just a weekend warrior and that way I mentioned works for me.

binger i would get the pad cleaner and conditioner. I just use some pad cleaner and a brush and clean it under water. nothing special. when I am done i just use 2 sprays of pad conditioner and they are good to go. I bought the chemical guys combo from autogeek store.
 
I am really starting to love the MF pads. They are so simple to clean.
It literally took less than 10 minutes to clean a MF pad.

I just dump them into a pad cleaner solution and let them soak for a bit. Wring them out and hose it down to get all the junk off. Slap them on the DA and let it spin on speed 6 and let it work against my hands and it will basically throw off most of the water. It won't be completely dry but it will be dry enough to continue using them again.

When I am done with them, I just throw them in the washing machine.

This has been working very well for me. Makes quick work of drying the pads.
