How to clean windows without leaving streaks?

Pinnacle Crystal Mist - Optimum Glass Towel or something of equal quality then use the Uber High Tech Glass Microfiber Towel - Dry, do not get wet and buff glass. Sweet, easy and makes cleaning glass enjoyable.

All great methods and all seem to work for the user. Thanks for sharing them all.

I will toss in something that i do if needed. Even though i include exterior glass surfaces when i clay a vehicle, i also use 0000 steel wool and Sprayway cleaner when i final prep window exteriors. I then use the 2 towel method and Sprayway for the final, streak free finish. Has worked for me.

Using newspaper has been the trick that worked best for me. I've tried different cleaners and towels, but plain old newspaper seems to work best for me.

We all used to hear that newspaper was the an excellent way to clean windows in the past
I have read articles that todays "inks" are no longer the same as those used in the past and no longer perform as well due to changes in the dyes and inks. I read the info on another car care forum in the past year

0000 Steel Wool, Stoner's Invisible Glass, and a couple of MF towels works wonders for me. I also use Stoner's Reach and Clean Tool on the inside of the windshield when needed.

Shoot, after reading the replies the problem lies with the towels that they supply us with. I will admit it isn't a top notch detailing place. Their main attraction is a top of the line automated car wash (swirl city). They dry the cars with regular towels (more swirls) and our blue rags for doing the windows are cotton shop towels.

I would skip all that. I struggled with this until I found the CarPro fast glass towels. The problem with microfibers is they are used for other things and contain small amounts of wax / gloss enhancers a in them that leave streaks. Also the nap of MF towels is not the best for glass.

If the windows have any dirt on them, its very hard to clean them and leave them streak free. It's better to use 2 steps

1. Clean glass once with regular glass cleaner and any towel so its fairly clean. Remove any dirt or grime. I've tried many glass cleaners, and most aren't very good. Two good ones are Pinnacle Glass Cleaner and Smart Glass from Smart Wax.

2. Clean glass again with CarPro Fast Glass Towel and distilled water.

.. If windows aren't dirty, just streaked just do step 2 only. But, I like to keep these special towels dirt free, so I can wash them after many uses.

I just picked up the 5 pack of these and can vouch for how they work. Thanks for the tip as window cleaning just became hassle free.

Just curious. Where can I buy the carpro fast glass towels?

the absolute best thing I have found for cleaning glass is decent microfiber towels and a half and half mix of water and 90 percent rubbing alcohol that can be found anywhere for a couple of bucks. Your glass will be perfect! trick is you gotta have good clean microfibers that have not been used to wax or polish and that DON'T LINT.
