How to detail after Opti-Guard?

Hello all,
I been following AGO for quiet a bit now but recently I just bought a FRS and got it opti-guarded. The installer did a wonderful job but couple days ago a huge storm came by and blasted tree barks and debris all over my car. I really want to clean it up but afraid I might get some swirls and ruin the opti-guard coat. Before I was doing one bucket and lamp wool glove but now I decided to upgrade my arsenal. I do have two 5G bucket with grit guards on the way. If you guys have time please recommend me some good material to wash and dry.

I have been reading the MF guide but would like user recommendations.
What I would need:
1. Washing glove/mitt/whatever you guys recommend to do the washing with
2. Drying towel
3. Window towel

I current have Meg's gold wash and Optinum No Rinse + basic foam gun.

PS. Any good MF kit available to buy?
 
For mitt I use the best which I feel is this one:

Merino wool wash mitt, auto wash mitt, sheepskin wash mitt

I have not actually gotten a chance to use it yet myself (Cold Weather), but several experienced sources said it is the best/softest!

I dry my OC car with a cheap $30 Home Depot Leaf Blower. It is really small and light and you dont have to touch the paint. Plus it gets all the sitting water out of the crevices as an added bonus! The blower even being lower powered as blowers go gets off about 97% of the water. I does not work well for an uncoated/waxed/sealed car though. It has two speeds 120mph/150mph but only the 150 does the job. I would not mix it with other (Lawn) duties and keep it in its box when not in use as not to pick up dirt/particles that may go right though the intake and shoot at your car.
 
Well, welcome to AGO.:) Why not give us a little info on you. Like where are you located an stuff?...
Kinda backwards from the way I'm used to seeing things unfold here. Usually people join AGO, learn the basics, learn about the products the want to use, then get OG/OC. Either way, as long as you are here learning now to prevent damaging your investment.
The biggest thing to prevent damaging the coating is washing as sterile as possible. If you do that and gentle dry the paint, either touchless or quality MF, you shouldn't prevent any damage.
For small drops of water left after washing I like to use the 530gsm MF. It is very plush/gentle, yet absorbs well using a blotting or wiping motion. Great for applying a booster product while drying. And they are on BOGO!

Ah thanks. Im looking at an air blower also. I do have one but that one is for yard work.

Thanks for the welcome! Im in Atlanta so the weather isnt that bad. We got bipolar weather lately with freezing rain/flurries/35mph+ wind gust to beautiful 74 degree weather today. The detailer had a 50% off deal all new car prep and OG so I jumped on it asap. I was quoted from another competitor for $800 so it seemed like a good deal. Since it was impluse i really had no proper setup to keep the car its "wet" appearance when I first saw it OG'ed.

How am I looking so far? Anything else to be added?

Is the Wookie mitt really worth $40? I feel like i could take that off and buy more MF or stuff.
 
I don't really care for the wookies mitt . it hold a lot of water/suds , which is ok , I just find it big and bulky and heavy . I don't use mine that often , I prefer carpro's mitt . the mitt I use the most is meguires mf . they cheap and I got plenty on hand and I can wash them in the washer . using any of them wool mitts , u have to get uself like a course pet hair comb to comb it out . don't use on a overly dirty vehicle as stuff likes to stay embedded in the wool and hence the purpose of using a pet comb . just my 2 cents

Sounds like you have quite a bit of course debris on the vehicle. Maybe you can carefully pick most of the debris off by hand before washing, then use the mitts/chemicals that these fine gentleman have recommended.
