How to fix crackly paint on door handles?

As you can see in the attached pics, the paint on my Toyota Sequoia door handles has deteriorated, and is now crackly or scaly looking and dull. The rest of the paint on the doors is fine.

Is there a recommended way to restore a smooth shiny finish without repainting the handles?
