Hate looking at this part of my car cause I don't know how to fix it. Its the B pillar between the front and rear doors. Can I polish it like you would a headlight or taillight? or is it too soft or hard for that?

You can polish it but don't look for absolute perfection with these. They are very soft and pretty thin as well. Attack it in a non-aggressive manner

Which would you recommend, DA or hand polishing?

that's a really soft delicate area thought can be polished using a polish like meguiars m205 and white pad though take your time cause it can swirl, mar, etc very easily...good luck

If you have a machine use it. I polish piano black plastic all the time with a polish and polishing pad and never have any issues finishing down.

They are soft but use a machine and you will be fine. Tape off all the rubber first then speed setting 3 with something along the lines on M205 and a polishing pad. Make sure you use soft MF towel to remove the polish

Menzerna SF4000 and a 4" orange pad will make that spotless and clear.

i have personally used that combo on dozens of gti's.

Use medium pressure for the first 4 pass's, then make an additional 2 pass's with no pressure. Speed 4 on the polisher.

Based on what everyone has said, I'm gonna use WG TSR with a orange CCS Hand polishing pad and if it doesn't work ill switch to the DA on a low speed.

Griots 3inch polisher and megs yellow foam pad with m105 has worked great for me.

Sent from my HTC One using AG Online

IMO that combo is probably too aggressive. Often these parts are very soft.

Do a test spot with the least aggressive combo you have. You may be surprised.

I correct light wash induced marring on the black plastic D pillars of my Yukon Denali with Wolfgang Finishing Glaze and a Blue CCS pad by hand.

I found this approach finished down better and did not take much time (15 minutes per pillar).

i would not use the Wolfgang total swirl remover, that is to much for that area, i would go with the finishing glaze as stated above

You can also get away with a white pad if they aren't too bad. Then get some opti-coat on there so you're not polishing again next week.
