Hello Forum!
Now recently ive tried wolfgang paint sealant on my new C63 to winterize it! I used a red LC pad with a PC to apply it. Worked really well but im struggling to remove the paint sealant from the pads.
I am a small time pro and when it comes time to clean my pads I fill up my sink with warm water and DP pad cleaner, then use a brush to clean. Works like a charm!
Although when i tried to clean my red pad with paint sealant, I could not scrub it out and had to squeeze/squish it out of the pad with my fingers. I cannot fully get it out and theres a big white stain it the pad!!
Ive always used wax and if anyone has some tips to clean this id really appreciate it!! :) (no i dont have a pad cleaning system)

Hi Andrew. I think, if nothing else, that's a testiment to how much stronger sealants are than most traditional waxes. They're going to be more difficult to get out of your pad, and in my experience, can stain them a little bit. I haven't noticed it effecting future applications of sealants or waxes, though. Just be patient and keep squeezing it out with your hands/fingers until the water is as clear as you can get it.

Go to Walmart and get Dawn Power Dissolver.

Thats why i have 1 pad designated to WGDGPS 3.0 :). Its a pain to remove. my best results come from soaking fifteen minutes squeezing the life out of it. Rinse soak and squeeze one last time and little scrubbing with pad brush.. That stuff is tough though! Oh i use snappy clean powder

Below are some explanations as to why it can be hard to wash anything used with a wax or paint sealant and it has to do with these types of products not being easy to dissolve and wash and rinse out...

It has to do with "protection" product NOT being water soluble. If they were water soluble then they would simply wash off your car in the rain or during a car wash.

This new product from Wolfgang actually works pretty good for compounds and polishes and for waxes and sealants you just have to spend more time...

Make sure you're not overusing product when machine applying waxes and sealants and this will help avoid pad saturation.

:)

I will keep that in mind, i think that may be one of my problems. Should i go to a closed cell hydro-tech pad in the future to avoid over saturation?

No worries, You may see a bit of difference using hydro's but any pad is prone to over saturation if you apply too much product. A little goes a long way with paint sealant Thin is in my firend! :xyxthumbs:

I have found only one way to get sealants and waxes completely out of pads. It works, but it requires some work.

1. Get as much out with conventional pad cleaner or APC. Rinse well

2. Soak pads completely covered in Oderless Mineral Spirits for at least 8 hours. Squeeze out pad in the mineral spirits after 8 hours several times. Rinse. Wear gloves, mineral spirits are nasty.

3. Soak pads another 8 hours in isopropyl alcohol. Squeeze as above.. Rinse with water and let dry.

I did this process to all my applicators, including tire swipes loaded with tire dressing and they come out completely like new. All stains are gone. if you have applicators you have used many times, you will be amazed how much old product comes out of them. The new color is restored and all traces of wax, sealants, and dressings are removed. You can use the same mineral spirits and isopropyl several times over before you need to replace it.

Wish I had a before picture, but most of us have seen how nasty applicators can get after a months and months of applying tire dressings. They get to the point where you just want to toss them. This applicator is over a year old and I just cleaned it using the above method.

I know you can't touch it through the screen, but the foam is as clean as if it just came out of the package when new.

WOW! I'll definitely give this a try! i just tossed out some old tire applicators too! -______-

The foam seems to be holding up really well too!

Thanks a lot for the input everyone! Really appreciate the feedback

WGPS really is a pain the ass removing from pads. Feels like you're smashing a stick of butter between your hands. Stuff is pretty nasty, but does such a great job. It really lasts a long time on paint finish....and the pads.

I use Wolfgang Pad cleaner and Rejuvinator with the orange brush . I spray them and let them soak for about 10 min then go back spray, brush rinse repeat as necessary.

Pads with M105 or M205 look like brand new when cleaned, I use Blackfire and it does take a little more effort to get cleaned.

I mainly use Lake county 5.5 " flat pads.

The WPCAR was one of my best purchases , works great !

Andre I let mine soak in DP pad rejuvenator overnight ( 2 scoops in a 5gal bucket with about 3 gals of water ). The key I've found is to keep them submerged. I place my pads in then put a grit gaurd on top of them to keep them under water. WGDGPS will then rinse out easily in fresh water.

Mineral spirits break down chemicals in pad. Soak for 30 seconds squeeze pad pour more mineral spirits over pad and squeeze. Finally wash with dawn. good as new. The reason why they are hard to wash is that the sealant is made with oil base components, oil and water naturally don't mix that's why you have to use same chemical to wash pad with first mineral spirits(is oil based).

To bring this back up, MS won't ruin the adhesive for the velcro will it?

It hasn't for me I just wouldn't let them soak for hours. I just submerge them in MS and squeeze a couple times chemicals come right out. Then wash with dawn.
