How to graduate to different products?

I think the question was to how to migrate to different products.

So the only way is to test new vs. old while you still have some old.

I try new stuff all the time but only on my own car, so takes a long time to use up.

So best bet is try test spot with old stuff and if not good test new.

I also research alot on this site to get different opinions on new stuff before I buy.

It would help if every manufacturer had 2 oz. samples available for testing.
 
Crispy hit on a good point. I read posts/reviews from trusted members, and will even try to PM them to pick their brain on certain things.

AGO members have been more than gracious in this aspect.

Then, it's on me to get the product(s) and refine my actual technique/application relative to my own paint & needs.
