So now that I have been bitten by the Detail bug.
Everytime I see a single swirl I want to break out the PC 7424.
This year I polished the entire car, put a coat of poor boy Black hole, Sealed it with WDGPS 3.0 and then a final coat of Fuzion.
But everynow and then I see a swirl that comes along I assume from washing.

When there are only a few swirls here and there what should or could I do?

How do I maintain a swirl free daily driver?

I do use QD for the shine, any suggestions on the random swirls.

Perfect you washing technique so you stop getting the swirls.

You may be correct but No matter how careful I wash the car there will always be a swirl.

My process is :

Rinse

Foam

wash (2 bucket system)

Dry with leaf blower

Dry with Guzzler (I also spray QD on panels before using the towel)

What else is there I can do to avoid swirls?

Sacrifice small ani...wait.

Really, not much. If you're doing all the above, try blotting the water leftover after the blower instead of wiping.

Having a black DD myself I accept them as inevitable and move on.

I have a black car. I have been working hard during the past two years to eliminate new swirls. I do the two bucket method with grit guards, high quality towels, etc. But within six months the swirls and water spots are back.

If I could afford a high pressure washer and foaming wand, I'd invest in them, as well as a deionizer. But since I can't afford them, I have no choice but to live with the swirling reality. Very discouraging.

the latest is to add one grit guard to each bucket making two. this allows the grit to fall even deeper into the water and off the wash mitt.

I would agree with blotting the water other then wiping it. Also, what type of wash mitt are you using? Could it be time for a replacement?

I am using a new ShMitt that seems to work well, as I mentioned before I even use QD when I dry the car. I guess I will have to live with the swirls until my annual polish.:buffing:

IMO that could be your problem. It may be soft and all that but there is no nap in it to catch the dirt in and its just spreading the dirt along the surface of the car.
