How to polish near body moulding???

How to you clean/polish where the door meets the moulding? This picture is my driver side door on the Jetta MK4. I was using my PC 7424, and can only get so close to the (grocery cart blocker) door moulding.

I honestly don't know how you're going to get any closer than that....

CCS pads are going to get you as close as you can get.

Thats what I am using. I guess I'll have to live with it. Didn't know if I was missing some technic or something being a novice.

Several options:

1. Tilt the pad... a lot. By using the edge of the pad you can polish up close to panel edges.

2. Use a rotary. DA style tools that oscillate are not as effective as "zero offset forced rotation" style polishing tools when working on edges.

3. Work by hand. It takes longer. Way longer, but can be done.

4. Take the moldings off, then reinstall when done polishing.

2. I actually have a Flex PE8, with 1",2", and 3" pads and bases. I thought about that, but lately have noticed the common "holograms" when doing other 2-3 inch spots on my car (like the top of the rear passenger door frame) and if I try and follow it up with the PC DA, I'm worried that the orbit is to large to be able to correct it. I'll try it, but on the side of the door moulding that is closest to the ground.

3. What would a soft tooth brush and some polish do? My finger probably won't fit in the crevice I seem to be addressing.
