Hello! My name is Isaiah and i'm an up coming detailer in Humble Tx. I Have officially opened my business 3months ago. I haven't had much service and getting a little discouraged. What are ways to make good advertisements so people will go out on a limb for you? Feed back please

Thanks!

You need to focus on a marketing plan and not just advertising. Do you have a marketing plan? If not make one up ASAP!

  • Let all your friends know. A lot of my business first year was friends. Take pictures of everything and put them on your website (frequent updates helps your search results.)
  • Overcome any shyness and talk to people you meet. Cashiers at the grocery store, your hairdresser, etc. Always have 2 business cards in your wallet to hand out.
  • Offer a detail as a door prize/raffle at your church/neighborhood association/full time job. (they'll promote your business as they promote their event)
  • As for a marketing plan, look at similar businesses around you, how they advertise, types of clients they get. Use that to judge whether you're in the ballpark or if you need to tweak your prices or advertising. Try to find something they're not promoting and make that your specialty. See my sig-line

All businesses take time to get established. A year or two may not be unrealistic. Your business plan should also consider how you will pay your bills while you're building that base of regular clients, and everybody's answer is different. Good luck.

Family and friends for sure. When I first started I was able to stay busy for 5 or 6 months just doing family and friend's cars...then winter hit. Plan on a way to pay the bills! My business always slows down November through at least the end of January. I picked up a part time job in the winter and did some cars in the evenings and weekends. Business may slow down but you still have to pay rent on your shop, if you have one, and insurance.

Also, you have to be on the first page of google places. You do this by getting good reviews on google and listing your business information EVERYWHERE online. For example: Yellowpages, merchant circle, angies list, craigslist, facebook, twitter, blog....there are hundreds of places. If you aren't optimized on google, you'll be relying solely on word of mouth, which generally isn't a lot of business for the first few years.

You should tell your clients that are highly satisfied with your services that any referral business would be greatly appreciated. They won't mind helping you out if they like your work, best of luck!!

I give all my clients 5 or 6 business cards to take with them and tell them that if they send me somebody, I'll give them a free wash for the referral. Honestly most people never take me up on the free wash but I get good referrals all the time!
