How to remove gas out of carpet????

My in-laws were coming home from vacation and spilled gas from a power sprayer in their 09 chevy traverse. Does anybody a secret to remove the gas from the carpet and the smell out of the car?

A match usually does the trick..........j/k. I would think an extractor followed by some type of "oder eater" would work pretty good if the spill wasnt too bad. Others will chime in too.
 
I spilled gas from a snow blower in a mini van I had to remove the carpet and take the hose too it.. It did work.

BE VERY CAREFUL DOING THIS!!!
The police liaison officer at my high school blew his face the eff off vacuuming gasoline off something with a shop vac
 
i dont know how to begin removing the gas, but at work whenever i get a car with water intrusion i usually put baking soda under the carpet just to insure that there wont be any lingering smells. thats not to say its a shortcut, just a little peace of mind is all.
 
Thanks guys. I was going to use something to use an apc to clean the carpet and then hopefully vacuum it out. I hope my megs odor eliminator(sp?) will work, if not replace the rear carpet section.
 
I had good luck using Folex and a little green machine on a buddys Expedition when his son spilled gas in it.

you need to first wash carpet then use score 10 as per label you may have to do 2 times

I spilled gas in the hatchback of my Mazda last year. I was getting fuel for the lawnmower...no comments from the peanut gallery please. I spent more time and money getting it out of the carpet than the carpet was worth. As far as odor control goes, Dakota Odor Bombs are the best IMHO.

That is what I was thinking. I don't know how much spilled or how bad the smell is. If it needs to be replaced, I have a connection at a gm dealership.

If you decide to fool with it, use extreme caution with the vaccum. Only do it in a well ventilated area. I know you're not retarded or anything, I just wanted to make sure you don't get your head blown off from a vaccum spark.
