OK, I have a 2001 GMC Safari, and unfortunately it sits out on the side of the road. We also have an irrigation system, I noticed lately that the side of the van, which is curbside now is going golden/ rust color. The van is Cadet Blue w/ Gray/ Silver Trim but now it has a nice golden color from the iron deposits of the water. It is on the paint, trim, and the Alloy Rims. HORRIBLE

What can I do to remove it from:
1-The Van Paint/ Metal Pieces
2-The Van Trim/ Accent Plastic Pieces
3-The Van Rims (Alloy)

Thanks for the help...

First find a new place to park otherwise it will just happen again. For the paint and metal, wash, iron x, clay, polish, and seal. For the plastic pieces I'd wipe it with CLR then wash and seal with Dlux or WG exterior trim sealant. Just polish or alloy rims with a metal polish.

I used the new CarPro Spotless on fake chrome trim this weekend with great results. It is designed to work on lots of surfaces. You can get a 50ml sample for $4.99.

Since the paint is now discolored, your van may benefit from a product like Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion or another "Cleaner" type product.

If you have a polisher, I would suggest the Meguiar's White Wax. It has lots of cleaners and mild abrasives that can give great results with a White Foam Pad or a Meguiar's Polishing Microfiber Pad on a DA.

CLR calcium lime rust remover will remove the stains without harming your paint

I Tried the CLR a few days back & it did not DO ANYTHING for the RIMS or TRIM :/

For removal of well-water mineral stains:

Some folks get "Real Lucky"...
When they use "Just Ducky"!!!

Flip the caps so the stained ones are on the stained wheels

Any idea what you might have driven thru that "stained" the lower section of the rear quarters?

Wet cement by any chance?

The gray parts are just dirt... sorry did not WASH before taking pictures...

Also I will flip the caps back, they were switched all around when I had new tires put on last week, also why the stained rims are on the opposite side of the van.

Wash

Dry

Take some close-up pictures and re-post

Will do when I get back home next week...
out traveling this week

On here looks like most people recommend One of these: IronX or SONAX Wheel Cleaner or SONAX Wheel Cleaner PLUS

Seems all can be used on Rims & Body... or So People say

If you want to try something right away...

The Meguiar's DUB Wheel Cleaner is available OTC $9.99 at Wal-Mart

It's their color-changing iron remover

Gets good reviews.

This is the Plastic Lower Trim

Thanks for the new picture, although a close-up would have been better

What exactly makes you think the stains were caused by well water?

Looks to me like the tires threw something up on the lower portion of the quarter panel.

:iagree: that looks like you drove through some cement or something that wasn't dry.

Iron X the whole thing, clay it with a nanoskin, and polish it out to the level of perfection you want. Then seal it. If you want to get really aggresive rub some goof off on it then wash it with soap and water.
