How to remove water spots by hand

Awesome article. I had water spots type II, and found that hand polishing as per step 4 didn't do anything. I had to move to machine polishing w the same polish (menzerna nano 106) to be able to remove them.

Is there a step that I missed or is the above ok?

thanks for the help Mike. i'll check out M#4 and see how it works.

Use some elbow grease.

This is really a big help for me.. Lot of thanks sir Mike ;)

No problemo... I grew up in Oregon... water spots are a way of life.

Thanks Mike:dblthumb2:

Good tips and needed.

Last week I washed a large black 2014 Toyota SUV, water spots everywhere.
My schedule has been very full since opening my shop so I called my customer to let her know about the water spots.
She will send it back to me after the holidays.

I'll try your steps, in order:dblthumb2:

Kevin

Let us know how that goes....

Well written thanks for the tips

No problemo...

Type II Water Spots are one of the worst if not THE worst type of paint defect to have to deal with especially if they are throughout the finish.

IF the SF 4000 removed them and the paint looks good or great to your eyes then all that's left to do is seal the paint with a wax, sealant or paint coating.

Awesome write up, man :) What I always do is constantly keep the vehicle wet during the entire washing process even when you are cleaning wheel wells, wheels, tires, etc. Keep spraying the vehicle down! Don't give the water any time to dry at all until you are completely ready to towel off, shammy, etc. Then once completely dried off, use a cleaner wax or what not. I apply it by hand by using an applicator pad or by just rolling up a soft clean cloth into a ball and applying, doing one section of vehicle at a time. I take the cleaner wax off with a 10 inch orbital buffer and I keep changing the bonnets. Then what I do is use is the Collinite..Works like a champ! I love the tip about using vinegar for the hard water spots! I haven't tried that yet but I definitely will! :)

Aw thanks, I found this! I am really having trouble having these kinds of car issues to be honest. Thanks for posting and sharing your knowledge about this. <3

Hello, I used vinegar on light water spots but it didn't work. Is there anything else easy that I could try ?
Or the only solution is to use a clay bar ? Thanks.

Great article! What about some of the water spot removal products? Is it just better to use a paint cleaner?

I have some on my glass pano roof and along the roof sides on black plastic

Thanks for the thread, it was very helpful. I tried several things on my water / chemical? spots that I saw on my black Kia yesterday around the wheel well. The only thing I got to work that was in my arsenal (Dawn, WD-40, Vinegar, etc.) was a Meguiar's Clear Coat Safe Polishing Compound with a microfiber pad. This made it come right out. I also tried this product on some light scratches that were from the previous owner but I didn't have any luck with those. YMMV, good luck everyone.
