How to restore this trim?

My 2003 Mazda 6 has black trim on the B pillars. It's showing some age. I tried some OTC trim junk once and it washed onto the paint when it rained. How can I permanently correct this?
 
Paint them. That's usually what I see people do in cases like this
 
I always compound and polish these. I actually just did one. Don't think I have any before and afters but that's always worked for me

Same here, just completed my sister's car and they came out great! Better than expected and unfortunately, no pics with me as I'm at work.

Cool. Are you guys doing the polishing by machine or by hand? I have a GG6 so the 5.5" pads would leave gobs of polish in the cracks but I am looking for an excuse to order a GG3...

Nope just use your GG6. Just tape off all the trim around and you will be fine.

Another tip using the tape and your GG6 would be to open both doors so that you can tape off in between them (vehicle dependent + thin tape is fine here if you have some). This way you won't have anything in the middle crack to clean out and can do both sides at the same time, or back to back depending on the size of your pad(s). Saves me time! :buffing:

FYI, you don't need a GG3, just buy a 3 or 3.5 inch backing plate that is compatible (Lake Country) and some 3 or 4 inch pads. I just did this for all of $35 or so for 3 inch plate, 2 4 inch LC CCS Orange and 2 4 inch LC CCS White pads. Think I am going to get the 3.5 inch plate also for a little more rigidity for the 4 inch pads. 3 inch plates work nice for getting into some crevices since you have 1/2 inch of give all the way around the pad. For headlights and small body panels, I want a little more rigidity though. Here's a link (it says Porter Cable, but if you read to the end it says it will fit GG models...and they do...the 3" one here is the one I bought for my GG6):

I've seen worst and had luck in restoring them using a good compound, did it by hand too.
 
Why not get a 3.5" backing plate and some 4" pads. They are great for headlights, glass polishing and tight areas.
 
They are almost always single stage paint and can be very thin. They can be polished but start with a light polish and work your way up to something more aggressive if needed.
 
I have used Klasse AIO on these areas. I use a white pad and they come out well. You can then use Klasse SG on top. Klasse AIO is non abrasive.
