I recently bought a '14 Sorento and have noticed that my front windshield has some "phantom" outlines of some rectangular and numbered labels. There also appear to be numerous, faint splotches; maybe water spots?

I tried some Perfect Glass and some rubbing alcohol to no avail. I was going to try white vinegar next, but wanted to check in here to see if anyone has any other specific recommendations on how to get rid of these.

thank you!

Compound and a heavy cutting pad should clean it right up unless the waterspots are etched into the glass.

Vinegear should work (if it's hard water spots), spray enough vinegar onto a piece of paper towel so it'll stick to the treated area and let it work for 3-5 mins. Or try CarPro Ceriglass Polish, with that you'd need to use machine and the pad will vary depends on the DA/Rotary you are using, since glass is much harder than paint, start with a polishing pad first.

Once it's done, you may want to consider sealing the windshield with Coating/Sealant/Rain-X from future problems.

PS: post a pic so it'd be easier for us to identify the issue.

Unfortunately, I don't own a DA/Rotary tool.

So, I'll try the white vinegar first since I have a gallon on it already.

Then I'll look into other products that have been mentioned and am certainly intending to coat/seal with Aqualgel or the like.

I'll try to take a picture(s) to share.

Just get a terry cloth towel that has a decent nap on it and get a heavy compound (Meguiars Heavy Cut Cleaner M04 you should be able to pick up at the local parts store), and then get to work (be prepared to work up a sweat). Mike Phillips suggested that a long time ago and it works well by hand.

Car Pro Ceriglass polish works fantastic.....I used my "6 Griots DA with glass polisher pad..my old cars Windows look fantastic now!
