Mark the back of your Speed Surface Prep Towel
Use a permanent marker and mark each of the four quadrants to make it easy to monitor and know how which quadrant or section you've used as you detail cars. When you notice the performance of the current quadrant falling off switch to a new quadrant.

One thing I like about this tip is that as a towel section becomes less useful simply take the same marker and cross out the number of the quadrant that isn't performing like it should. By crossing out the corresponding number that no longer works well you'll always know without guessing which side(s) are still usable.

Great tip Mr. Phillips. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome tip Mike. Would Blackfire clay cleaner & extender work with these towels and the Nanoskin pad?

Good tip, I'm going to do this to my towel :xyxthumbs:

Why? Just rinse it with some water and you're good to go. The pad should last you a hundred cars or so, so I'm not sure if an extender is going to do anything to that lol

Just a thought on how to better ensure it meets that hundred car claim.

gotcha, well since this is like a synthetic rubber as opposed to clay (btw, all clay in the US is made by one company that has the patent on it), I would imagine it not being designed for it. But maybe someone's tried it? :dunno:

I don't know that this product would hurt the polymer rubber surface? My guess is no.

I have come across a car that after rubbing the paint down with the Speedy Surface Prep Towel folded 4-ways, that the square I used had a build-up of the contaminants stuck onto the rubber and it was very visible, kind of a gray or silver color.

I used a little Blackfire APC and a soft brush to get it off and it didn't seem to cause any harm. I also did this under running water in a sink.

:)

Mike, awesome video.

Do you prefer this towel over using the nanoskin autoscrub pads by hand?

I had a chance to try both over the weekend at his detailing boot camp and I liked the speedy prep towel better than the nanoskin. Both worked great but using a buffer you can't get into some tight areas like you can by hand with the speedy prep towel. If you are looking for one product to get the job done I'd choose the prep towel due to it's versatility. :xyxthumbs:

Yes.

I don't use the machien pads by hand, you can, but I don't. I prefer to use the towel.

Bump. Curious about this too

See above...
