Hello Autogeek members!

First picked up a buffer in 1975 working at a bodyshop while in high school. Back then most spot & panel repairs were done in lacquer that required compounding to match the rest of the car. Just sling rooster tails of compound with a rotary, wipe, 3M pink polish then out the door! Sprayed a lot of cars & trucks through the years, wet sanded and buffed (if necessary) with a rotary & wool pads. I've been out of painting/body work for a few years. Now I'm wanting to learn the foam pad polishing systems that wasn't available when I was a (production) painter. I'm working out of the shop that I used to do side work in. Now it's sheetrocked, painted, AC/Heat, with a Race-Deck flooring.

Just bought the DeWalt 849X rotary to replace my worn out B-D rotary. Now I'm looking to stock my shelves with some of the products here at AutoGeek!

Here is my 2000 GMC Sierra I sprayed back in 2005

Thanks for the kind welcome guys!

I built the garage back in the 80's mostly to work on old muscle cars for my friends and myself. In my younger years there were a lot of engines built and a good many paint jobs done in the old building. In the summer just a big ole fan and a torpedo heater for those cold winter days! Back then I was happy just to have a concrete slab and dry place to wrench!

The last few years the old building has went from a working garage to a mancave, detail bay & gym. Gotta keep the arms pumped to swing those buffers all day... right? ;)

Computer desk tv etc. Behind the window is a bedroom and behind the bar mirror is a storage room, soon to be a shower/bathroom. The Sanyo mini-split ac/heat system works nicely (quiet) keeping the temps just right.

This is when it was a working garage, with the partition wall just going up before the re-wiring, sheetrock etc.

From one "seasoned" member to another, :welcome: To Autogeek Online!! :props:

It's nice see "mature" folks sign up and share their past and memories. I too remember those days and bought my first rotary machine when I was in high school back in 1968....doesn't seem all that long ago and I still have that machine today....:props:

Beautiful garage my friend!!

Welcome!! I'm jealous of that garage. What part of sc are you in? I grew up in mb.
