Welcome. Where in Oreegun? No need to answer, or you can send me a PM. Asking only to offer any help or share some products. And by help I mean to share what little experience I have and hopefully not help you screw anything up. Hmmm... maybe just stick to sharing products...

Welcome ShinyThings! Looks like Oregon is pretty well represented here so you should feel at home.

Hi ShinyThings,

Welcome to AutogeekOnline! :welcome

I'm native Oregonian. Lived in Cottage Grove, Albany and Seaside. The below picture is me pulling my Drag Boat out of the boat launch at Foster Reservoir using my convertible 1959 Cadillac.

Foster Reservoir is just outside of Sweethome, Oregon.

Whereabouts you?

:)

Hi Mike and all,
I'm in Bend but lived in the Salem area for a while before finding Bend. Been boating on Foster, Green Peter, Detroit. Originally from Central California (Merced) and have had several fast boats, built 1/4 mile boats etc. Current boat is a Ski Centurion that will be getting some detailing attention soon. I will dig up some pics of the various toys soon. Thanks for the welcome everyone!!!!

Hey there, Beaverton, OR here...I liked your other thread, good work, man!

I'm wondering how you're going to deal with the Oregon "winters" and detailing....

Native Oregonian over 35 is pretty rare, especially in Portland (or Beaverton/Hillsboro). I'm not one. Wife is.

Check out all these Oregonians on the forum! I'm located in Oregon as well - welcome! (Originally from Albany, been to Foster many times!)

Since this seems to be an Oregon thread....how do you guys detail during the winter time?

It's a challenge and frustrating. As you know, as soon as you take your car outside it's filthy. So it's a losing battle consider keeping it clean. For me it's more about making it easy to clean when you choose to do so. Often too cold to be out with a hose. I usually do rinseless in the garage. I've moved to a Big Red Sponge rather than MF for November and December - too much leaf debris to use MF.

I wash it admire it, and know it's going to be filthy as soon as it goes outside. I have a coated car that cleans up fairly easily, but the coating gets contaminated pretty quickly. It also doesn't stay dramatically cleaner. I'm hoping to find something that is truly self-cleaning, or mostly so. Haven't found it yet.

I'm all ears if there's a better way to do this.

Thanks for the kind words, as to the weather Salem area was rough for me being from Central Ca. and I tended to bounce between the two states when I couldn't handle the grey wall of depression looming overhead dropping copious amounts of h2o. Bend is awesome and was fine until last year which was the worst winter in over 27 years. That was no joke and snow literally had to be trucked out of town. That was no bueno

With regard to detailing in Oregon, I cheat! My two secret weapons are my access to hot water and the drain in the floor of my garage :-) I'm planning to try a coating soon to help stay clean easier this winter as well.
