Humbled enthusiast. Please help

I too live in an apartment but have a carport. I use a self service car wash and prepare a bucket with good shampoo solution to take with me and avoid their low quality soap. Rinse thoroughly with a rinse only cycle (no soap), use my shampoo solution with a microfiber mitt to wash and rinse again with a rinse only cycle. Dry with microfiber drying towel and voila! You can spray and wipe a good spray wax to give your wax a boost after drying. I learned the hard way to avoid automatic carwashes at all cost.

Thanks dougaross. I was thinking the same thing. Do you find the touchless wash gets the car clean after opticoat or do you still need to wipe it down with a waterless wash after

I suppose it depends on the particular wash. I find that they don't get the car really clean. The evidence of this to me is that the windshield is not totally clean where the wipers don't wipe. I have OC on my windshield.

In the middle of winter, sometimes I don't care because it is going to be covered with salt and crap the next day.

Where are you located? Perhaps there is a forum member living near you that can give you a hand.

Here's one for the pet peeve thread... folks are talking about local detailers, weather, etc and they don't have their location in their profile.
:bash:
I found a detailer in Pittsburgh that uses opticoat. I am having it applied today.

Money well spent. You'll find you'll save money, time and effort in the long run. Let me know if that PIT detailer doesn't work out for some reason, I'm up around Youngstown.
