Hurricane Irene

All my friends in North Carolina and New york, Stay safe please :(

I hope you guys don't lose power for too long...

In 2004 we had 4 storms go through central florida (Very rare for central florida to have hurricane force winds) We had 3 that were pretty hardcore (even though they were only Cat 2). The first one "Charlie" took an 80 foot pine from my neighbors house and punched it through my roof. Power came back quickly on that one. The next two power stayed out a lot longer. Francis or Jean (can't remember which took destroyed the grid in Deltona. No electricity for over 2 weeks (that means no A/C in the depth of a florida summer) Not fun :nomore:

We were getting them every other weekend. Anyone ever notice how hurricanes always make landfall on the weekend??? Well for us that was the case. Every other weekend for 6 weeks we had one that year.

So I have one friend that just moved to NYC this week and another that just moved to Maine last month. Nice welcoming for both of them.

The projected track keeps edging westward. We should have a good bit of wind and rain. The Outer Banks is likely to get slammed.

I got my hurricane shutters ready just in case. Haven't had to use em yet and I hope it stays that way!

Up in MA, it's interesting to watch peoples reactions.

I work in a petsmart boarding facility, and we're canceling any reservations and sending home dogs that would have been with us. Better safe than sorry, right?

Should be a fun experience, I'm actually looking forward to it.
