I am lost right now

Hey everyone it's been awhile. I've always been meaning to get back on here but have been really busy for some time. Between work and getting my business up and running for the last 18 months I've only have had time for that stuff and thankfully my home life. Business has been growing good and for the last 5 months and has allowed me to cut my hours at the grind, just to get filled with my venture, time moves fast. Best thing I did in 2020 was I took a month off from everything. No work, no internet, hell I left my property once in 5 weeks and that was to get an oil change. During that time every night Dude and I would rest in bed and watch Two and a Half Men. Great time!

Sad news to report, I had to say goodbye to Dude on December 23 2020. He was 15 years old and 5 days short of him being in my life for 12 years, now I truly feel lost I miss him so much!

RIP The Dude. My condolences to you and your loved ones, Hammer.

I lost a cat in 2019 to cancer and I just didn't have the courage to put him down. You did the right thing.

I'm sorry for your loss... sadly I know all too well how hard it is to say goodbye to your best furry friend.

15 is a good, long life!
I'm sure Dude is running with some of our departed friends somewhere over the Rainbow Bridge.

Hammer - Our Condolences - So sorry you had to say goodbye to Dude. Take comfort knowing that Dude had a goooood run here. (Not just in time, but in quality). It's never easy to have them go though.

Our dog was 19 when we had to put him down. Heart breaking and I still get choked up when thinking about him. But a pet is a lot of responsibility so despite being a dog person and lover my entire life, we aren't getting another one anytime soon if ever. I just spoil my parent's dog when we visit.

So I understand your loss and it is tough but it does get less painful with time. Wish you the best!

sorry for your loss....any loss is hard.....I am way older then you....lost love ones in my life....you might disagree with me....but life has to go on...your a young man....you have a great girlfriend...you have a business...both of those need your full attention....lots of luck

I somehow missed this thread when it was originally posted back in 2017. I reply to a lot of threads, it's hard to get to all of them.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Here's a couple pictures you've shared, I uploaded them to your gallery.

Here's a picture of my Boxer Crab Bait. I raised her from a pup at 8-weeks old until the day I had to have her put down due to cancer. She was 15 years old. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

I feel your pain. Thoughts and prayers sent your way.

Hi everyone I don't want you to think I forgot about you all. Thank you all for the words and support, means so much to us! I wanted to sooner but right now its hard to see this thread and not break down.

I was thinking the other day, in April I will be 44yo, Dude was with me for a little over a quarter of my life.... I miss him every waking second and still talk to him all the time.

As far as personal life/business I made some choices the other day. Dude was my CEO, I am the CFO, but going to slow down and take some time to enjoy life and do all the things i haven't been doing. Bowling, BBQ, golf, detailing, etc...

However next week my plan is to go to my local Humane Society, and I am going to hire a new CEO. I love dogs and need them in my life!

Dude would have it no other way. Obviously you had love for him and he would want another to experience what he had.

Just liked duke next one will be lucky to have you, and you them.

I'm glad you are going to tackle life in a great way!

And SO glad you are going to adopt a new CEO... was a great help when we lost our 2 greys in 2019.

Can't wait to see him/her!

...

Totally understandable man. My last boy I had to say goodbye to I had for 14 years, which was about half my life at the time now that you mention it.

I think I shared this in a thread of Monica's, but my folks gave me a plaque for the wall -

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are. - Anonymous"

I think time helps the most, but I like to think of that quote to help too.

A dog will give you unconditional love, unlike human love that sometimes have strings attached.

Every dog I have ever owned (upwards of 12) have all come from our local animal shelter.

And every one of them were the best dogs in their own way.

Right on, Dave!!!:dblthumb2:
