Its been brought to may attention that this spelling is offensive (the main heading here). There's also another spelling, Murica', which is basically the same thing. Its amazing to me how someone could be soooo offended by a spelling, this isn't a new thing with the Merica' or Murica' stuff. Check out blipshift | Car shirts you want, 1 at a time, $15, Don't Drive Naked where they sell t-shirts and they have a version of this spelling with the front of Murican muscle cars, one in red, one in white and the last one in blue, I think its pretty cool...

I ask this because apparently its an issue with some and really don't get it, so getting some others opinions will either set me straight or confirm what I already know, thanks for the input guys/galsFeed back please

I dont find any personal offense to it but I do find it highly disrespected to our country and the hard working people in it.

I don't understand how someone would be offended or feel disrespected from that.

th

Seems this is a well used word out there, just sayin'.

I don't see how that would be offensive. Its just a slang term for America. People just need to be angry about something.

+1 It also dumbs us down.

The pride of the country is in bad enough shape with out not being proud enough to spell it correctly. Espically with AMERICAN MUSCEL CARS, Yes they were produced in other countries, however the idea and the designs came from AMERICAN auto companies that owned plants across the pond and down under.

As to the photo shopped pics above,,, YEA Im reall happy to have overweight and unintelligent looking people representing us on the web, <Jeeze!>:nomore:

Just asking about Murica' or Merica', not so much where the cars are produced really but since that's been brought up its pretty simple, YOU go to work at YOUR job and put in YOUR hours and receive YOUR paycheck, thus meaning YOU can go out and buy what YOU want, pretty simple, right?

It just seems there's people out there that think they're more Murican than others because of stickers on cars, clothes worn, etc and nothing could be further from the truth IMO.

It is just a way to belittle Americans, and portray everyone that loves this country and believes in freedom as a punch of stupid obese rednecks.

Pass.

For sure Beamer and I think the people have spoken on this one, glad it didn't go too far off the path.

I am not offended by it at all. I have served in the US Army for 20+ years now and hear soldiers jokingly say it all the time. People need to lighten up.

Dumbs us down..

Did you mean to misspell "muscel"?

I'm not offended because I don't get it.
What's a 'murica?
What language is that?

I don't find the shirt offensive at all. I think it's rather cool even though I'm not a hot rod/pony car fan. One thing American car fans can be proud of is a moster V8 in a small RWD coupe.

I get the whole 'Murica thing and have used the term half-jokingly in passing with family and friends in the past. I think it's important to be able to laugh at yourself.

Having lived abroad for quite some time, I get where it comes from. I've queitly blended into a crowd in several major European and Asian cities and watched the loud, obease, American tourist loudly show their ignorance of the local culture while proclaiming they should be treated better than anyone else simply because they are American citizens. At home I've also noticed a steady decline in sophistication and overall awareness/understanding of the world outside our boarders. At least we can poke fun of ourselves with the whole 'Murica thing.

I don't create stereotypes, I just see them.

Nobody can blame people for seeing what the media portrays Americans as. Even if 90% of the people aren't at all like that. And this is comin from a skookum hoser who don't care how she's bootin er eh, just crack a cold one, pass the maple sirop, overtimes gonna start soon eh

Desertmate, the story about the tourist is probably where another term comes from, its called "Ugly American" or to stay on point here, "Ugly Murican". Not sure how someone could be so arrogant like that, kinda like when someone tells the world how much money is their wallet and/or account......hmmm!
