Doesnt take much to make me happy, so pardon the boring thread.:p

Went to Lowes today and purchased the Utilitech 600-Watt Halogen Stand Work Light. Been meaning to buy this for a while now. Cant clean it if you cant see it right?!

After getting it situated in the garage, i think im going to head back to Lowes tomorrow and getting the 500w portable for easier use inspecting cars.

Slowly building my detailing business while it is still a part time gig...

congrats man :dblthumb2: The are surprisingly inexpensive aren't they.... I know youre excited with every tool added man... feels good!

if you go to the post office, you can ask for a moving packet and there is a 10% lowes coupon inside and HD will honor it as well...

nice tip!! 10% off is always good

I have the same light and love it! Only thing that I don't like about is that it doesn't go low enough. I ended up buying a single one that comes on a little stand so I can set it on the ground and point it up at a panel I'm working on.

if you want a single 500 watt light, go to HD and they have a yellow one for right under $6...

i see what u mean, but it does fairly quickly come off the large base. as mentioned in first post i will be getting the 500w portable one that sits on the ground (+-$9) probably tomorrow to avoid having to take the 1200w combo off the stand to shine on the lower panels. plus i will have more light. the more light the merrier:props:

It's a great light - and it's something detailing related that is really useful around the house, too. I've used it for painting rooms, cooking on the grill at night, and just adding light wherever needed. Keep extra bulbs handy, as the "stock" bulbs will blow out fairly quickly.

WOW 60 for only 600 watt halogen is a bit expensive? I got mine for 30 bucks and its 1000 watt halogen from Home depot.

Oh not bad then. The first time I polished my car I bought the halogen right before it. It helped out so much because the lighting in that garage was horrible. These lights will bring out most of the paint imperfection.

I have a few halogens I can use when detailing the exterior but I am not sure what to buy for interior detailing. I have a regular incandescent light with a cage around it on a retractable cord but it gets hot and I always worry about it leaning against the interior.

I have been thinking about buying a fluorescent stick type light. Is this OK for interior detailing? Any suggestions?

A good friend of mine has a led stick lite frome sears and that thing puts out some light!!!!! recharegable. Comes with 2 chargers one for home and one to plug into 12v cig lighter.....nice tool indeed. Plan on picking one of these up next week...not sure on price but who cares it works good!

I will swing by Sears tomorrow to check them out. I know LED is bright, long lasting and does not get hot. Sounds like the perfect tool for interior cleaning.

Thanks for the tip.

I got some lights like that from Lowes but the units do not tilt down so I do not consider them very useful at all.
