These "deals" are possible by using a team of minimum wage guys using mass produced products.Cheap labor, cheap products, and getting it done quickly allows them to turn out more cars.So even if the profit is small it's the volume of profit that makes the money. They also may only be polishing the high visibilty areas not every inch of painted surface. If the deal gets you in the door then you're likly to be a return customer espesially for other services like a simple quickie ext wash which may cost you $5-$7 but only costs the company .50 in water and product.

Wow, and they do all that in an hour.... They must be on speed or something lol.

Thats what I was thinking - how much do you pay for the crack cocaine to keep them that productive, lol. It takes me an hour and a half to wash and detail the exterior of my daily driver and Im pretty beat afterwards. I usually take a nice long break and do the interior later.

We do this special all day long.. Not sure what the prob is
My guys work on commission and can turn a sedan around in under an hour (doing it right) ... They make $12 and the house makes $38... Fine with me ALL DAY LONG

I have no problem if it's done correctly, which you are doing at your shop. In my experience, I have not see that kind of quality from a dealership.
