I failed my first time polishing and waxing

On many occasions I have run both DA and rotary polishers using a DC to AC power inverter hooked to my car's battery. A 750watt continuous unit is plenty to run a polisher on. It may be a little hard on the alternator if used all the time but it works just fine from time to time.

Something to think about anyway.

Hard on the battery initially, then hard on the alternator trying to recharge the battery. That is unless you leave the car running the whole time. But every now and then to get a nice finish should be ok. Just be sure to start the car every so often while buffing not to discharge the battery too far.

I fought buying a PC DA for a long time. And now I kick myself why didnt I buy one sooner. I definitely wasted alot of product, time and elbow grease trying to fight what is the proven way to perform paint correction. I too was a little dismayed at my first attempt results, but you have to dust yourself off and try again to gain experience and and courage to tackle more challanging details. I am by no means am a pro, but with the proper research and some great guidance and videos I am proud to show off my car, with the satisfaction of knowing I did it myself. :dblthumb2:

Thanks Mike, I didn't have enough time to do it by hand though. I gave up on the cordless Simoniz polisher and I bought the porter cable 7424 XP from Autogeek store. Dave's idea is good. I will buy a DC to AC power inverter (1200W) and connect it to my car battery.

One thing though... Dave.. how will I polish my hood since I need to leave the hood open to connect the battery?

Dave's method is a really a good suggestion for people who have no access to power outlet. :dblthumb2:

How about temporarily removing the grille? On the bright side, you can clean the grille separately and detail it whether it's chrome, plastic, etc.
