So back when I was a kid, my father owned his own Auto Body shop. (it's where I developed my passion) which he closed in 98' to pursue a different career.

Well he finally finished his new add-on garage and busted open the boxes for the first time since 98'. Alot of nice stuff but this is what caught my attention:

Now I've seen a few of these before but the "Presta Fast Wax" and the "Clear Bright Liquid Ebony I've never seen nor heard of. So I did some research, the "Presta Fast Wax" is still made just in a newer bottle but the Liquid Ebony went out of business a while ago.

My question though, are those liquids still usable or is it better to just toss it?
And is there anything that compares to Liquid Ebony because he seemed pretty attached to it lol.

Treasures of the past!!

I'm fairly confident the liquids are toast and other than display purposes should no be used. The Mothers paste wax on the other hand might still be good. Have you opened the can for a visual?

I haven't opened it, I don't know about him. I'll be sure to relay that message.

Car Groom #55 was pretty good Many years ago Car Groom products was made in Chicago .They had a liquid carnuba that was called #24, a polish #26 , a vinyl dressing called Preserveatone, a spray wax called Magic Mist. They made other stuff and were sold by auto paint stores. They made great products but were sold to US Plastics. In the midwest you couldnt get Meguiars products , but Car Groom was just as good. They called themselves "The Cosmetic for Cars.

I think if you look on the back label of this bottle of #1 Medium Cut Cleaner, it will say under the directions for application it can be used by hand?

Today the directions say machine use only. Anyone want to guess what happened that the directions for use had to be changed on the label?

:)

That Liquid Ebony brings back some real memories....I think I used it on my 77 TBird....

The beginning of clear-coat finishes?

I 'think' I remember almost all of Meguiar's 'stuff' said (at one time)...hand application.

Same here, I used mine on my '82 Lincoln Continental. Was recommended to me by a Tech in a body shop I worked next door to. Probably would have worked better for me if I wasn't trying to apply it with a sears wax spreader.
