Well, I found the car I've been waiting for. I've been patiently waiting to find the perfect car since I'm trading in my Mustang GT and do not want to regret it. I know I wanted a Vibe because of it's reputation, room, gas mileage, and the back two seats fold flat for a lot of trunk space. It's a 2004 with 60,000 miles. Hopefully I can get it down where the difference between the Vibe and my trade in value is $1000 or less. Here are some pics:

Nice! Can I ask you why you are trading in a bad-ass GT for a Vibe though?

Work them on the price first then throw in the trade.
Remember, I did this for 9 years.

like Justin said, negotiate new deal first. Read Edmunds.com for tips on how to buy. Year end is the best time to get them down.

Those are nice cars, im not a fan of domsetsic but after driving my cousions ireally enjoyed it. its a nice ride. Hopefully you can get a killer deal

I'm only 20, so insurance is sky high for me. Also, average 16-17mpg is rough for me. I don't drive a ton, but 1200-1500 miles a month is still rough.

I don't want to sell, I LOVE my mustang, but it's the best decision for me. I've thought of keeping it for a few more years, but by that time, it won't be worth crap. And I definitely plan on getting another Mustang when I'm older.

As far as the vibe, they have it marked at 13,500. Fairly high being an 04 with 60K miles, especially when comparing it to all of the other Vibe's around my area for sale.

It's not so much a domestic. It's built on the toyota platform. Toyota engine, suspension, transmission, frame, everything except body. The Matrix and Vibe are identical, but I like the body of the Vibe a lot more. And this one's black!

thats probley why i enjoyed it then. I knew they were similar but not that similar. None the less its a ncie ride

Your buying at one of the best times of the year, dealers will take a pretty good hit around x-mas.Not too many folks are auto shopping this time of year.Be patient, like Justin said, don't talk trade-in till you get your best rock botton price. Then spring the trade in on them.Remember, your best negotiating tools are your feet.Worst sound a dealer can hear is the door closing as you leave without buying:righton: Good luck

id keep the stang, buy a pos honda and swap a newer D series engine in it. Walla cheep ass ride that lasts forever :D

I could never get rid of a stang. Ive wanted one since I was seven and when I get it, it's not going anywhere :D

Neat car tho, never knew GM and Toyota teamed up O.o

My trade in value is only $9,200 on Kelly Blue Book.

if you are taking photos, and they know they gotcha, it will be harder to get them down. never act like you love it. find every flaw you can in it. my son is 18 and omg, he can do this far better than I. and my husband, well, he can only buy haggle free saturns - lol.
ayway, don't act like you have to have it. they use it against you!!!
good luck!!!

oh, whew, that is good to hear!!! i didn't want some con artist salesman to use your interest against you.
;)

The advice given here about buying is been solid. You're being financially prudent by admitting you don't want to spend so much on the Mustang's fuel and insurance.

Keep in mind that trade-in value on a Mustang won't be as good this time of year because it's a tough sell from the dealership's point of view. While year end is traditionally a slow time for dealerships, your car is out of season.

I do notice a great deal of green leaves on trees in the background of the pictures. Are these stock photos from the dealership, or is this the actual vehicle you're considering? Is this a dealership near you? How long has it been since Dayton, Ohio, has looked that green?

My point is, how long has it been in inventory? If it's been a while, management will be even more eager to unload it, especially if they're paying floorplan.

The miles are on the high side for what's now considered 3 model years old. Consider this for a few reasons: not only on purchase price, but on service issues. Will repairs be out of pocket or are you getting some kind of warranty?

Good luck when shopping and post questions if you have more

The weather here has been abnormally very good. In fact it's been average 50* this past week which is unheard of.

The Vibe get TWICE the rating in fuel. I know I'm not saving hardly anything by getting the Vibe, but it's more of an insurance and reliability stand point. The Vibe will be MUCH more reliable than my mustang, especially as a daily driver and through winter. Also it has a much higher cargo area than my mustang.

The pictures are the actual car from the dealership, taken off of their website.

It's been in the inventory for at least 2 weeks, no idea how much longer.

I understand how it works when trying to purchase a new car. Obviously if it's been there for awhile their going to be eager to get rid of it. I know all of this, but thank you for the suggestions.

The miles are kinda high, but this can only play into my advantage when trying to talk them down.

Also, I'm looking in to an extended warranty, but I'm not sure yet.

Bah, I'm gonna go opposite of everyone and say put a downpayment on a new, oh, say, GMC 3500 Quad Cab, DuraMax diesel etc. Then you'll have a bad ass truck, great gas mileage, and a couple mods and you'll smoke most GT Stangs.:awesome:

That or a V10 Excursion:D j/k, good luck with the car.

Ditto.
I immediately thought of a f250 diesel. 25mpg and with a chip... well lets just say you wont miss the mustang anymore. Plus if you ever get in a reck, your the one thatll drive away :)

Im thinking the silver one in the background may also be a nice choice. Year ?? Mileage ?? Black cars are hard enough to care for, throw in someone elses black car for the last three years, and you may be disappointed. Silver hides it all ...

I have access to the NADA Used Car Guide and just so you know: Loan Value on that car is approx. $10,400 (depending upon options) MINUS $875 for mileage. I'm using the Central Edition for November...but your prices may vary some.

I'm trying to buy a daily driver now myself and the only way is Loan Value unless it's a desirable product (like most of the Honda line).

The above figures will give you a starting point at least.
