Errr... at least my tire did today.

I was driving home from work and heard a "whuming" noise from my left rear. Got home, pulled the tire off and noticed a nice 1/4 inch screw stuck in between the tread

I pulled the screw, and replaced it with the spare (luckily BMW provided a full size spare).

Anybody know what I can expect to pay for a decent repair?

i have had this happen more then a few times. I have paid at most 40 bucks, and the loss of the tire for the day.

it should be a quick in-expsnive fix

My vette only cost $24 at the dealer, and an hour. But a friend of mine, Mark, goes to a tire place and it only costs him $8. Then again, I have run flats. It took almost two months before I even knew i had picked up a screw in my tire.
Good luck.

ummmm what was that?!??....I was lost staring at that avatar:D

lol...Lauren funny girl...two months..hahaha...good tires

I've had lots of screws in the Jeep, well since it's the Jeep I went to the cheapest palce and yup $8 to $10 was the best I found here in Canada.

Hey CalgaryDetail, clean out your PM box...your maxed out and I've been trying to PM you.

Nica - do i have to go there again?
You are a HORNDOG!
Im the MAN :awesome:

I love it!

In regards to flat tire, no worries. Read my P21S Wheel Cleaner review. The reason I took the wheel and tire off is because there was a fat nail in there and I didn't want my wife driving with that.

It was $20 to get it plugged. DONE!

Go to an auto parts store and buy a plug kit, only a few bucks and repair it yourself. Real easy. You don't even need to remove the tire.

The auto parts and plug kit I agree, but not on not emoving the tire. You need to remove the tire in order to be able to remove the nail and fix the tire ASAP.

Just turn the wheel out and you can pull the nail and plug it. Done this so many times. If it's the back tire, yes you may or may not have to remove the tire.

I agree with the plug kit, it is cheap and easy. I actually carry one around in the truck with me. I had a bad one just about 3 weeks ago, a 5/16" lag bolt about 2" long in my front passemger tire, (ugg tires only have 6,000 miles) only took a couple of minutes and done. Did it right on the truck.

Wow, those were some quick responses! Thanks for the info. I called around to a few places and the BMW dealership near my work is the closest place and they have comparable rates to the other guys (imagine that!)

I'd patch it just to be safe..IMHO
My sentiments exactly, I feel wary about those plugs - especially because I don't drive like my granny :awesome:

There is not a Discount Tire in MA. Too bad, a great place to buy tires. I just bought new tires for the wife's Quest and my Jag from Discount Tires.
