Actually I absolutely love it, but I hate the cops. I had to drive to the northside today so I thought it would be nice to stop and have lunch with the girlfriend. Parked for about a half hour and came back to a ticket for no front plate. I really wish that had better things to do. On a bright note, Chicago now posts pictures of your violation on their website and even with the crappy quality camera and my car not being washed in the last at least 2 weeks due to work and school overload it has an awesome reflection!

Yep it's definitely the police's fault you aren't complying with state law...

Also chances are it was Parking Enforcement and not even a Police Officer. Darn those who do their job.

I can't wait till I can move back to the south where they don't require front plates.

I hate downtown Chicago , its a mad house , traffic and no place to park unless you have a thick wallet. I use to work their somethimes, and after being there for a day you need a shot and beer to calm you down.

I made the mistake (once, and only once) of giving-in to the Wife's wish to be in Chicago on "Black Friday"!!

Yep, besides, since the police suck so bad next time he is downtown and gets robbed he can just call his girlfriend or something.

Do they take the picture with their phones and send it to Chicago's website? Im sure they do that so their is no fighting the ticket. Kinda sucks but I don't ever have a front plate either but I don't care if I get a ticket. A 50 dollar ticket is so worth not having a front plate but I have had the car for 3.5 years and no tickets yet :)

Are you a police officer Greg?

A lot of cities are starting to crack down on the no front-plate so that their automated license plate readers are more effective ... hooray for being tracked.

For all those saying the police are doing their job, their job is to protect and serve, not write bullshi* tickets so that they can have 6 figure salaries. It wasn't a meter maid it was a cop. He was on the corner of the next street, watched me park, and like a coward waited til I walked away to ticket me. The ticket was timed 5 minutes after I paid for parking. Wouldn't it have been the right thing to do to walk up to me and say hey man this is a warning make sure you put a front plate on or you may get a ticket. There is absolutely no courtesy with CPD and they are money hungry animals. Crook county and Chicago are aiming to be the next Detroit.

Edit: This is my third year without a front plate living is the south suburbs of Chicago. I've had 3 speeding tickets without a front plate and never been ticketed for it. It makes no sense to even require it, but that's Chicago. Also, I know there are going to be a lot of people with the response "If you don't like it then leave" and to you guys I say, I will leave as soon as I finish school. The amount of other people moving out of Chicago as well is alarming. Something like 4 families a day and a huge number of businesses due to the taxes. Chicago will be just like Detroit or Gary, Indiana in about 10 years, most likely less.

Six purposes of a law: Tell me which one pertains to a front license plate.

1. To protect you from outside aggression or harm (robbery, assault, etc.)
2. To establish the rules needed for a society to live and work together (traffic laws, contract law, etc.)
3. To protect the fabric of society as agreed upon by the voice of the people or their representatives (pornagraphy laws, marriage laws, drug laws, etc.).
4. To ensure that justice has been served.
5. To punish people who commit crimes.
6. To maintain social order.

But the point of this whole thread wasn't to bash the city of Chicago, I honestly made it because I enjoyed the reflection of the hood on a filthy car from a crappy camera.

:P

Nothing worse then a cop with little man syndrome. They robbed me for $500 for coasting through a Stop Sign pulling into a Wal Mart parking lot @ 6:30am on a Sunday

That is a pretty good reflection shot considering the circumstances. Thanks for posting :Picture:

While there very well may be other ways to handle it, I just get annoyed when people don't take accountability for their actions. It's rampant in today's society.

I agree no front plate isn't the crime of the century, but if it's law then it's law. If you don't like the laws blame your legislators, not the police.

I was gunna say you didnt wash your car for 2 weeks?!? Looks pretty damn good man.

I had a cop wait for me to leave my car to give me an inspection ticket. I was expired by 2 days and had an appointment later that day to get it done after I got my haircut. I fought it and won though because the coward didn't show up to court :xyxthumbs:

I'm an EMT and work with law enforcement officials every time I'm at work. Just like everything else in life, some are good, some are bad, some are just trying to collect a paycheck and then some are just trying to go above and beyond the call to get a pat on the back.

Where I live, Constables are the bad ones. Even the Texas State Troopers are awesome guys (and my favorite to be stopped by. It normally turns into a 20 minute conversation with someone I know, a hand shake and a "Be safe bud!") Many cops (around here at least) just want to come to work, remain safe and not worry about having to get in the 110 degree heat because of someone not having a front plate. Why am I going to stand out on the side of a highway in the heat and risk my life for a $50 citation all because someone doesn't have a front plate?

I'm with the OP though. Regardless of whether it's a law or not, there's too many violent crimes, women/kids abused, people dealing drugs, drunk driving, assaults, break-ins, robberies... Go chase one of those criminals and when violent crime has been halted and when a normal person can actually feel safe walking down the street, then feel free to nit-pick all the little minor infractions in the world.

Required in Cali, I don't have one, haven't since 2000. One ticket and it was a fix it ticket no fine. Wonder why not a fix it in Ill?

In LA parking enforcement writes these all the time if parked on city streets, when there I park in off street.underground parking. Been lucky I guess.

On LEO's, yes some are good some not so. Only thing that ever bothers me is if they have an attitude other than that they are doing their job. Oh and this will get some hate, their job is not to save the world just enforce the law. Friend's son is an OC Sheriff and to hear him talk you'd think he was Ghandi/Patton/Sir Francis Drake all rolled into one.
