So I have a Halloween party on Friday night, then am detailing a Z71 Tahoe on Saturday morning (black, ARGH!) and then that afternoon we have a wedding. So basically, it's wash my truck tonight or nothing.

So I get done with the gym, run an errand and get going. Of course, it gets dark about when I start to dry it. I throw on a layer of AW and give the front end a good scrubbing. I hit the halogen lights and take the Brinkmann so see if I missed any spots...

Just crap everywhere. ARGH! It made me so aggrevated. There was dust, I didn't get the dirt from in between the letters, missed spots everywhere drying, it made me so angry. I just wanted to sell that stupid black truck right then and there and trade it in for a white one.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!

Lessons learned: don't wash anything in the dark. You'll only end up more pissed off than before.

no skimping on black. unless you have tons of light, it will test you. happens to everyone with a black vehicle and sight. i have had that happen in daylight.

I set myself up for failure. My Guzzlers were skunky as I just put them in a bin when they were damn, so that already was strike one.

I've come to the conclusion that I just cannot do a "quick wash" as it'll just upset me. I either do it all and do it right, or just don't do it at all.

it takes me 1.5 to 2 hours to do a good, safe and thorough wash on each of our black cars. that includes a blow dry with metro blower and blot with WW towels. i spend a lot of time on the wheels, tires, emblems, vents, etc with 7 or 8 brushes, mitts, etc. i tend to need a light polish every year or 1.5 years. black is a beast.

ahhh P1et so sorry! Like you said lesson learned, just let it go! You can always get it later! Try to have a good night! :D

Ahhhhh, the pleasures of owning a black vehicle in Texas.
Wash to early, and drying sucks. Wash during the day, and it spots like crazy. Wash in the evening, and miss things...

Gotta love it!

LOL

Don't trade it in for white lol, you'll feel the same, I owned a black and white truck, still have the white one, just as bad as the black to keep clean.

Ah, don't sweat it. Even when my black car is dirty it still looks better than a clean white car.

Alright, thanks for the migical powers of AW, the truck looked pretty damn good this morning in regular daylight.

PHEW!!!

Aw sorts things out....

But i agrea, no detailing in the dark, that often gets messy

Detailing in the dark is not recommended. Just be glad you did not BUFF in the dark, although I do know of an paint expert who buffed a GMC Envoy in the dark for several hours.
